VERO BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man is accused of coughing, sneezing and spitting inside a Best Buy in Vero Beach after he was asked to put on a mask.According to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, Alton Ashby, 51, approached the Geek Squad counter maskless and was asked by an employee to put on a mask.Deputies said Ashby dumped a package of masks on the store floor and then refused to leave.According to authorities, Ashby began sneezing, coughing and spitting on surfaces around the store.Deputies said Ashby walked to the front of the store carrying a soda, "which he sprayed everywhere as he was walking out."According to deputies, Ashby said he was "upset and is going through a lot this year and got carried away at the store."This story originally reported by Victoria Lewis on WPTV.com. 810

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The suspect in an Amber Alert and stabbing was seen smiling Tuesday afternoon after her arrest.Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma said 39-year-old Taheerah Ahmad stabbed her 11-year-old daughter on Monday night. The 11-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in "very" critical condition, where she remains unconscious.An Amber Alert was issued after police said Ahmad also abducted her eight-year-old child. Ahmad was located around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot in Tulsa. The 8-year-old child was also found safe. Police said citizens walking in the area noticed the vehicle and contacted authorities. Ahmad was taken into custody without incident. Police said she had been in that parking area for 17 hours before being found. Police said the woman admitted to the crime. Ahmad said she became upset with her children, and bound two of her children's hands with duct tape. She said the 11-year-old child fought back, and she stabbed the child 50 to 60 times and hit her in the head with a pick ax, according to police. She was arrested on counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, first-degree arson and abuse of a child.  1209

Two new fissures opened on Hawaii's Big Island, spewing lava and fueling fears of violent explosions more than a week after the Kilauea volcano erupted.Nearly 2,000 people have been evacuated since the Kilauea volcano erupted May 3, sending lava flowing into communities and threatening a nearby geothermal plant.The 17th fissure, a crack on the ground through which lava pours out, was reported Saturday night, the US Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said."Lava from this latest outbreak is actively spattering," it said.The volcanic vents, or fissures, have released slow-moving lava and toxic gas into island communities, gobbling up dozens of homes and vehicles.Another fissure, the 16th one, was reported earlier Saturday and "produced a lava flow that traveled about 250 yards before stalling," officials said.That vent was about a mile east of the Puna Geothermal Venture plant, where officials removed 60,000 gallons of flammable liquids due to safety concerns.In addition to the new fissures, USGS officials said an explosive eruption is possible at Halemaumau crater at the top of the Kilauea volcano. Using a Bible doesn’t make it better.A Nevada, Missouri, woman is facing charges of delivery or possession of a controlled substance into a county jail after she used a Bible in an attempt to deliver marijuana to an inmate in the Vernon County Jail.The woman walked into the jail Monday night asking to give a Bible to an inmate.A detention officer at the jail inspected the Bible and located marijuana in the book’s binding.Deputies arrested Ashley Despain on the charges.She is now also in the Vernon County Jail on a ,000 bond. 631
