"China urgently needs a growth boost" relying on an accelerated growth of infrastructure investment, said Yu Yongding, senior fellow and academician at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Yu made the remarks at a forum titled "Stronger together: Global recovery from COVID-19" jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China Daily on Wednesday.
"China will work with Kenya to realize the promise of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the promise of the Forum for China Africa Cooperation. China will always see African states as development partners no matter how the international landscape may be shaped," he added.
"China will also take over the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization after the coming summit in Astana," he said, adding that the agreements signed during the summit will enhance relations between the two countries, as well.
"China still has some room to maneuver its policy and foster next year's economic development," Ying added. "We will suggest the government continue to remain prudent and maintain a neutral fiscal and monetary policy for next year's situation."
"Compared to before, when I would just play with a lot of impulse, now I'm more composed," he said.
