(KGTV) -- A large number of applicants flooding California State University's website forced the school to extend its deadline. The university system tweeted Saturday that an “extremely high volume of applicants were attempting to submit applications.” As a result, CSU extended the deadline to December 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. RELATED: Audit says CSU stashed away .5 billion and raised tuitionIt’s unclear how many applicants were having trouble submitting applications Saturday. Gavin Newsom has reversed parole for Charles Mason follow Leslie Van Houten, the fourth time a governor has stopped her release from prison.Newsom said Friday that Van Houten still poses a danger if released from prison.Van Houten is serving a life sentence for her part in helping Manson and others kill Los Angeles grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, in August 1969. Van Houten was 19 years old at the time of the murders.Newsom has stopped her release once before, while former Governor Jerry Brown blocked it twice.Van Houten's attorney plans to appeal Newsom's decision.The Associated Press contributed to this report. 654

(KGTV) -- DUI arrests and fatalities rose significantly statewide over Fourth of July weekend, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to the agency, 1204 people were arrested for DUI this Fourth of July. In 2018, 389 people were arrested. The number of DUI-related deaths also saw an increase. This year, 24 people died in DUI-related incidents compared to 17 in 2018. In San Diego County, 81 people were arrested over the July 4 holiday. In 2018, 34 people were arrested over the same weekend. The data was taken between Wednesday, July 3 at 6:01 p.m. through Sunday, July 7 at 6 a.m. 609

(KGTV) - Federal investigators are asking for possible victims of a convicted child predator and retired Vista school district high school teacher to come forward. Tay Cooper, 67, pleaded guilty in 2018 to possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to one year in federal prison and seven years of supervised release. The judge ordered Cooper to pay ,000 in restitution to the four victims identified in the images and videos. Last September, Homeland Security Investigations agents received information from a potential victim who accused Cooper of sexual abuse. The woman says Cooper abused her for eight years when she was a child. RELATED: Former City Heights teacher sentenced for receiving child pornography“Unfortunately child predators don’t usually stop. I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here with Mr. Cooper but we have to do our due diligence to find that out," said Cher Durst, HSI Assistant Special Agent in Charge.Investigators worry there could be more victims due to Cooper's extensive teaching career, which includes 20 years at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Also of concern was that Cooper was a beloved teacher, winning Teacher of the Year two years in a row while in Los Angeles County. "He chaperoned trips, he initiated clubs, things of that nature in the school, which gave him really unlimited access to children in those school districts," said Durst. "Internet crimes against children are a priority for HSI, and public tips are key to uncovering the layers, locating victims and bringing predators to justice for these heinous crimes."
