BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) — The San Luis Rey Downs Country Club and Golf Course shut down after being a popular spot for many in the community for over 50 years.After four years of being a vacant property, a new project is underway to revamp the area. The Myrtle Creek Botanical Garden and Nursery has purchased the buildings that used to house the restaurant and banquet rooms. They’ll be revamping the inside and adding updates.The marketing director for Myrtle Creek, Kevin MacGregor tells 10News, “It’ll be basically what it was for the past 50 years, but with our spin on it minus the golf course of course”.RELATED: Evacuated horses begin to return home to San Luis Rey Downs after Lilac FireThe County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation tells 10News they purchased 200 acres from the golf course when it first shut down. They have plans to protect the natural habitats in the area with possibly adding some hiking trails. No revamped golf course is in any plans.Neighbors in the area are looking forward to the day the lot won’t be vacant and instead will bring them restaurants and bars right to their neighborhood.They tell 10News, over the past four years there’s been a problem with added trash and vandalism on the property. Myrtle Creek has plans to turn it into a 23-room boutique hotel.Christine Hoffman has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years, she even played on the golf course when it was open.Hoffman tells us the past four years have been sad for the neighbors nearby."To see it go in such disrepair the last few years is kind of heartbreaking," Hoffman said.Hoffman, like many other neighbors, are looking forward to the project. BOULDER, Colo. – Police have released a sketch of a woman they believe assaulted a 12-year-old boy who was holding a Trump sign while riding his bicycle earlier this week.The boy, who spoke with Denver7 on Wednesday, says he was riding his bicycle Monday afternoon when a woman o a moped driving south on Folsom Street spotted him, made a U-turn, drove up to him, and said, “you want something to look at?”The boy said the woman then used one of her fists to strike him in the back of the head and arms several times, and also caused a scratch on the boy’s left arm.A police report from Boulder police states the woman then reportedly tried to take the Trump sign from the boy’s hands, who was using it to defend himself against the attack before she took off.The boy described the woman as white, in her late 20’s to mid-’30s with blondish brown hair past her shoulders. BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — A man suspected of tying a noose to a tree branch in Berkeley’s marina has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor hate crime. Police said a person who works at the marina saw the man, later identified as Jaime Robledo-Espino tie a noose with some rope on Thursday. When confronted about the noose, the employee said Robledo-Espino fastened it to a tree branch and fled the area. The worker took a picture of the suspect and provided it to officers who later arrested him. He is being held in Alameda County jail on a misdemeanor terrorizing charge, which is considered a hate crime. 620
