DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A substitute bus driver in Lebanon, Indiana was fired last week after the district said she pulled over on the side of the interstate and allowed two strangers onto the bus to scold a child. The incident happened last Wednesday, on I-65 after a student was reportedly making lewd actions toward drivers. A driver then flagged down the bus and the bus driver allowed two people on to scold the student. The two people then got off the bus and back to their vehicles. The Superintendent of Lebanon Community Schools, Dr. Robert Taylor, calls the situation "unacceptable."The bus driver, who has not been named, was immediately fired.Dr. Taylor said she violated every protocol and procedure they have in place. "It's a matter of picking up the radio and instantaneously contacting somebody that could provide help," said Dr. Taylor. "That's exactly what should have been done."The district is working with local police to conduct a full investigation into the situation.   1043

DENVER – Shanann Watts’ family has sued Chris Watts to try and keep him from ever profiting off the deaths of their daughter or granddaughters.The lawsuit when Watts was sentenced to life in prison without parole, is a wrongful death claim intended to help the family recoup funeral expenses, the loss of Shanann’s future income and give them compensation for ongoing emotional distress stemming from the killings of Shanann, her daughters Bella and Celeste, and her unborn child.The family’s attorneys say that the family and Shanann’s estate are entitled to economic and non-economic damages under Colorado law, and the lawsuit asks that the family be able to amend the claims in the future. That will likely amount to thousands of dollars in restitution, District Attorney Michael Rourke said last week.One of the family’s attorneys, Steven Lambert, said last week that the point of the suit was to keep Watts from profiting off the case in the future should he write a book or try and get money from the sale of their house.“He cannot profit from any inheritance that he would normally receive from Shanann,” Lambert said. “On top of that, any proceed that he might derive from a sale of a book – he would not be able to keep any of that. Also, any assets that he might receive once we get a judgment from the court, we can file any liens and get things like that on any assets from here into the future.”The lawsuit says that Shanann’s father, Frank Rzucek, is also entitled to similar claims because Watts pleaded guilty to unlawful termination of a pregnancy for killing his and Shanann’s unborn child, whom the family called Nico.Watts pleaded guilty to nine counts in the case and received three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, in addition to several more consecutive and concurrent sentences for other counts.He was transferred this week to a Denver facility to undergo mental and medical evaluations before he is sent to prison. 1982

According to ABC News, hundreds of volunteers decked out in Christmas hats and military uniforms will still take calls from children around the world. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - A local woman says that a man posed as a Del Mar plastic surgeon and groped her for several minutes during a consultation exam. Team 10 investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner verified that he is the manager of a cosmetic surgery center, but he is not a licensed medical provider. He denies any wrongdoing.“All I can remember is being in the car and just bawling, just crying,” she tells us. She claims that the crime against her was deeply personal, so we’re not revealing her identity.She says her tears came just minutes after she says she left Del Mar Cosmetic Contouring Surgery. It’s a private business located in a medical office building off of El Camino Real.“He pinched my nipples. He grabbed the side of my chest. He lifted [my breasts] up with both hands,” she tells 10News. She’s talking about Dario Moscoso, who operates the cosmetic surgery business that specializes in fat contouring. “She’s a liar. She’s trying to extort money,” says Moscoso. “Do you touch patients?” we ask him. He replies, “No. I do not touch patients.”She says she visited the office for a full body contouring consultation, when Moscoso allegedly took her to an exam room, alone, had her disrobe, and grabbed her all over without gloves on. She tells us that he had her pull her pants down, too.“Did you think Mr. Moscoso was a plastic surgeon?” we ask. “Yes. He wore a white coat…he had a clip board. He had paperwork that I was signing,” she responds.“Have you ever represented yourself as a plastic surgeon?” we ask him. “No,” he replies.We also ask, “[Do you make] it very clear with each patient coming in that you are not a licensed medical provider?” “Absolutely,” he tells us. “If they try to disrobe, I do not allow it. [I] absolutely do not allow it,” he adds.His Instagram account shows “Plastic Surgeon” under his name.“That is a category,” he explains. He tells us that it represents the industry that he works in, not his profession. The woman who’s accusing him of groping her tells us that the consultation made her extremely uncomfortable, but she was desperate to change her body. So, she put down a deposit, left the office, and called back at a later date.“I was na?ve,” she says.When she later called back, she says she learned that a Doctor Gerald Schneider would be doing the procedure. Schneider is on probation with the Medical Board of California for sexual misconduct with another patient. He is still allowed to practice with Moscoso as a third-party chaperone. Moscoso says that he and Dr. Schneider always follow that rule.Schneider would not do an interview with 10News.He, Moscoso and their cosmetic procedure businesses are now being sued for what the alleged victim says happened to her.“[It’s] an absolute lie. It never [happened]. In all the years that I've been doing this, I have never had that happen before,” Moscoso adds.The alleged victim doesn't buy it. She thinks that other patients have been assaulted, too. “Come forward. Come forward, because he needs to be stopped,” she adds. DETROIT (AP) — Metal fragments from an exploding air bag inflator have killed the driver of an older model Volvo, touching off a U.S. recall of as many as 54,124 cars. The inflators in this case were made by auto parts supplier ZF/TRW, but U.S. government documents show they perform similarly to deadly inflators made by Takata. The recall covers Volvo S60 and S80 cars from 2001 through 2003 model years. Volvo said it will replace the driver’s air bag at no cost to customers.The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Saturday that it’s reviewing data with Volvo about other vehicles with the inflators and will decide on further action. ZF/TRW didn't immediately respond to messages left Saturday asking about whether the inflators were sold to other automakers. The federal agency says the Volvo inflator rupture is the only known incident worldwide. Japanese parts maker Takata used ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion to inflate air bags in a crash. But the chemical can deteriorate over time when exposed to moisture in the air. The explosion can blow apart a metal canister and hurl shrapnel into the passenger compartment.At least 26 people have been killed worldwide by the inflators, including 17 in the United States.The problem caused the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history, with at least 63 million inflators recalled. As of September, more than 11.1 million had not been fixed, according to the U.S. government. About 100 million inflators have been recalled worldwide.NHTSA said Saturday that the ZF/TRW inflators did not use ammonium nitrate to inflate the air bags.Over the summer, Volvo recalled more than 2 million cars worldwide for another issue.
