China remains determined to curb local governments' debt risks in 2018, as the authorities continue the crackdown on illegal fundraising activities, Finance Minister Xiao Jie said on Wednesday.
China supports European integration and that stance will remain unchanged, he said. The EU is a vital force in safeguarding world peace and stability, as China's biggest trading partner, and a united, stable and prosperous EU and strong euro are in line with China's fundamental interests, he said.
China will channel more resources from the Belt and Road Initiative to Africa, he said, adding that both partners should respect market principles and ensure economic and social benefits to improve the continent's capacity for sustainable development.
China launched its first pilot program for household garbage sorting in 2000, but it has yet to see marked progress. As the latest government effort, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development with eight other government bodies made public a circular on June 6, requiring more than 300 major Chinese cities to start garbage sorting this year.
