From the East Coast to the Midwest to the Southwest, Latinos will vote.A recent study showed that Latinos are more inclined to support Joe Biden. However, Latinos are not a monolithic group and there is support among Latinos to support the Republicans. There is a growing number of Latinos who support President Donald Trump. There are states like Florida, where the Cuban vote is behind President Trump and groups applaud his efforts to make America great again. It’s a diverse group that is made up of new citizens and first or second generation. Many Latinos are religious, devout Catholics, Christian, and Protestants. However, we can’t forget about the Latino LGBT community that is showing their support and taking a stand. It’s a group that is complex because Latinos are also from different countries with different customs. Many experts believe that if either candidate is able to take the majority of the Latino vote, they will have a better chance of winning the White House.Among the key issues on the minds of many Latinos: the economy, fighting COVID-19 and health care. 1088

Good people of America, the lottery jackpots need to be stopped. They are getting too powerful.Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing is worth 7 million (its largest ever), and Wednesday's Powerball jackpot stands at 5 million. The reason these jackpots have ballooned to such monstrous proportions is that, well, no one has won in a while. According to a release from Mega Millions, the last Mega Millions jackpot was won July 24, netting 11 co-workers a combined 3 million. The last Powerball jackpot, which totaled 5.6 million, was won August 11 by a man in Staten Island, New York.Believe it or not, this week's combined billion-dollar haul is not the biggest prize in the lottery's history. That honor goes to a 2016 Powerball jackpot, which clocked in at .586 billion (although it was shared by three winners).Of course, the actual amount you'll win is considerably less than a billion dollars, not just because of taxes and annuities and fine print things. The amount you will win is likely Health officials agree coronavirus cases are going to increase this winter as Americans head indoors to stay warm and closed windows will lead to less ventilation. But what about the dry air inside and outside this time of year, could a humidifier help slow the spread of coronavirus? That is still being debated.A study released this month seems to suggest increasing humidity plays a role in decreasing cases of coronavirus. The study, which has not been peer-reviewed yet, was shared on medRxiv. This study was based on the premise that previous studies have shown that falling humidity is tied to increased transmission rates of other respiratory diseases, like the flu. Researchers looked at more than 3,000 counties around the country and their humidity levels between March and September 2020.The team says they found increasing humidity levels had a negative impact on new cases of COVID-19 in most regions. In two of the regions that showed the highest effect, a 1 g/m3 increase in absolute humidity resulted in a 0.21 and 0.15 decrease in COVID-19 cases. However, there are also studies that show the humidity level had little to no effect on the spread of COVID-19.A study released in early November found the weather had “virtually no impact” on the spread. Instead, they said human behavior changes during weather fluctuations, outside during warmer weather and heading indoor during cold weather, had a large impact. What health and science experts seem to agree on is that the air does get drier in the winter from both the cold air outside and heated air inside. And that without proper ventilation, any coronavirus droplets in a space could linger longer and become more concentrated. This dry air can also cause nasal passages to dry out, which means noses could have less protective mucus. Some doctors have said whether or not the science completely proves humid air can help slow the spread of coronavirus, having more humidity in the air can make this winter more comfortable and noses more able to protect against all virus. 2051, because the odds of winning either jackpot are one in several hundred million.Sure sure, someone needs to win eventually, we know. But it's not going to be you.**OK, almost certainly not. But cheer up! There are often secondary prizes to these huge drawings that can be worth millions of dollars, and a shocking amount of them go unclaimed -- probably because people get too focused on the biggest possible way to win. 1435

HAMPTON, Va. — Students and teachers across Hampton Roads are preparing to start the school year virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That means empty classrooms for a lot of teachers in the area, including Kecoughtan High School."Now it's a little bit different because you're looking around and going, 'Hey, they're not going to be filled,'" said Mark Mingee, a history and government teacher at the school and a 20-year teaching veteran. "I'm going to be looking at a screen to see their faces, as opposed to seeing them right in front of me."But Mingee is making his classroom a little fuller. He created a fundraiser where people can donate to a scholarship fund and have their picture shown on a desk.Mingee, an avid sports fan, said he got the idea after seeing several leagues around the world fill empty stands with cardboard cutouts."You started to see these images on screens various places, or in the transition of cardboard cutouts of people in the stands," he said. "The more I thought about it, the more I thought, 'Hey, if I'm going to be in my classroom, and I want there to be people around me, the best thing to do is try to emulate that in some way.'"So far, he said many friends, alumni and current students have taken part."We're used to, as teachers, having each one of those seats filled. So, as it appears those seats are filled, it makes you feel like a normal, everyday moment in class," Mingee said. "Anything we can do to encourage these students to keep doing better, that's really what we want."He hopes to fill as many seats as possible to help him and his students. For Mingee, it's all about staying positive."You've got to be serious as a teacher, but if you can have a little bit of fun while being serious, all the better," he said. This story was originally published by Zak Dahlheimer on WTKR in Norfolk, Virginia. 1863
