It's not easy to adjust to a virtual bedside manner, which is why a former news reporter is launching "Webside Manner" for doctors to learn what is not taught in medical school.Twenty years ago, Mark Bernheimer was on camera, reporting daily events for stations in Los Angeles and CNN. Folks do need to up their game a little bit and learn more about how to best use the technology,” Dr. Murry, who is also the chief medical informatics officer for NextGen Healthcare, said.“I had never done a video visit before coronavirus. We didn’t realize how powerful that medium can be. You can really connect with your patients and be really intimate with them and have almost everything that you have in a real person visit,” Dr. Murry added.Now, Dr. Murry says, the way doctors come across needs to be thought out, too, in addition to the actual medical care and advice.“So much of medicine is really talking to your patients from the patient's standpoint. They want to tell their story and get an answer or make sure it's not something to be concerned with and from the physician's standpoint, it's that story which is so important in medicine and that story can happen over video,” Dr. Murry said.“These are people, who don’t forget, who are probably sick to begin with or worried to begin with,” Bernheimer said. “Now they’re anxious; now they’re nervous because they don’t want to be on camera any more than the doctor does. So the doctor or health care provider has to take special precautions into account before conducting those kinds of visits.”Bernheimer is working with NexGen to officially launch "Webside Manner" in November, and says things like body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions are all things that need to be considered during telehealth. He admits they can be challenging visits for all involved.“I spent 16 years looking into a camera as a TV news reporter. It was much easier for me to learn how to look directly into the lens of a TV camera than it has been for me to get used to looking into that tiny spec on the top of the laptop lid, so if it's hard for me, I can only imagine what other health care providers must be experiencing,” said Bernheimer.But, it's a necessary medium, as we're all becoming dependent and quite comfortable with doing everything from our home devices. 3633

An Alabama woman says the temporary teeth that she wore with her zombie Halloween costume almost turned into permanent teeth.Anna Tew of Mobile County, Alabama told WKRG-TV she was forced to schedule an emergency dentist appointment after the "Devil Teeth" she wore with her costume wouldn't come out after nearly a day.Tew said she bought the fake teeth at Walmart to wear with a zombie costume as part of a haunted house at a local school. The teeth came with an adhesive that she applied before putting them in her mouth.But soon after leaving the haunted house, Tew realized the teeth wouldn't budge. On top of that, the teeth were extremely painful, meaning she couldn't eat or drink.At one point, Tew thought that drinking hot coffee would loosen the adhesive, but she told the Ledger-Enquirer that she ended up "drooling" the drink. 850

An earthquake has rattled southeast Michigan and parts of Canada.According to the USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake was Amherstburg, Canada, which is just on the other side of the Detroit River from Michigan. He was euthanized under the recommendation of the attending veterinarian.Harliss was third both a quarter-mile and three-eighths of a mile in the 5 1/2-furlong race on Santa Anita's turf course, then dropped to fourth entering the stretch. He was coming off the lone victory in his 12-race career, finishing first in a 5 1/2-furlong race on Los Alamitos Race Course on Dec. 6.Harliss was trained by Val Brinkerhoff. Thousands of people reported seeing a bright streak of light lasting a few seconds, and thousands more heard the deafening boom.Reports came in from several states, including Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania,Virginia, as well as parts of Toronto, Ontario and southeast Canada, according to the American Meteor Society.It’s not unusual for meteors to enter Earth’s atmosphere or make it to the ground, however this one was rare because it happened in a very populated area.NASA’s analysis of the event shows the meteoroid entered Earth’s atmosphere over upper New York, roughly between Rochester and Syracuse traveling roughly 56,000 mph. Which is slow by meteor standards.It then broke into pieces roughly 22 miles in the air, which produced the bright flash of light and loud sonic boom.NASA estimates the meteor was roughly three feet across and weighed about 1,800 pounds when it entered the atmosphere.NASA reportedly has three meteor-tracking cameras in Ohio and western Pennsylvania that could have precisely tracked this event, but they were off at the time because of the time of day.“Meteor cameras don’t turn on until night because they’re too sensitive to the sun,” explained Bill Cooke, who tracks meteors for NASA. 1966
