Britain's Prince Charles has released a candid family photograph, as the heir to the throne celebrates his 70th birthday. In a special edition of British magazine Country Life, which the Prince of Wales guest-edited to mark the occasion, he spoke of "the alarming realization that I have reached the biblical threshold of three score years and 10."However, in the official portrait, taken in the gardens of Clarence House in London in September, Charles looks anything but alarmed. The future king seems relaxed as he holds his eldest grandson, Prince George, on his lap, surrounded by members of his immediate family. It's been five years since Charles last stepped in as guest editor for Country Life, and this edition offers even greater insight into the royal's life and his views on the British countryside. An interview with his eldest son William, the Duke of Cambridge, reveals that Charles, a long-time advocate of environmental issues such as climate change, is "completely infatuated" by the endangered red squirrels and has "hundreds" of bird tables at his Highgrove estate in England, which he replenishes by hand whenever he is there. The prince also commissioned his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, to write about her support for the Medical Detection Dogs charity. 1282

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel says he's not stepping down amid criticism of his department's response to the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.Israel's declaration comes after a Florida state representative called on Gov. Rick Scott to remove Israel from his post for his deputies' "incomprehensible inaction" during the massacre. An investigation "by Sheriff Israel will do nothing to bring back the 17 victims," Bill Hager said in a letter to the governor, referring to the students and teachers confessed shooter, Nikolas Cruz, killed."The Sheriff was or should have been aware of the threat Cruz presented to his community and chose to ignore it," Hager claims.  732

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — A priest in Bay Village says someone called police about a homeless person sleeping on a bench. It turns out it was actually a statue of Jesus. The sculpture was created by Timothy Schmalz, and depicts Jesus wrapped in a blanket and lying on a bench.Within 20 minutes of the sculpture's installation at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, police were called, according to the church's pastor, Alex Martin. He tweeted that an officer told him someone had called to report a homeless person sleeping on a park bench.Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland reached out to Bay Village police, who have not yet responded to a request for more information.According to the church's website, because Bay Village isn't impacted much by poverty, the statue is meant to remind residents how serious homelessness is in the world. The temporary installment will be on display until Dec. 1.The church is currently raising money to try and help the homeless. Martin says those interested in donating can do so here. 1016
