An alert for any brides-to-be: the wedding dress retailer David's Bridal announced this week it's planning to enter bankruptcy. So will brides with current orders be left out in the cold?David's Bridal CEO Scott Key said in a statement that for now the company's 300 stores will continue to operate and honor all orders and appointments.Jane Billingsley — who helps put together weddings at The Chapel in Nashville — says she can see why the wedding dress retailer may be facing tough financial times as more people buy wedding dresses online, or buy non-traditional styles."This millennial generation is coming up with things and it's like OK, we personalize it," Billingsley said.Billingsley says of the brides she sees, four out of five use David's Bridal in picking out a dress. 839

An attorney for President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen was provided secret information about House Intelligence Committee testimony from another committee witness, a sign of the growing discord engulfing the Russia investigation, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter. In December, an attorney for David Kramer -- an associate to Sen. John McCain who had met with former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele -- sent a letter to the House Intelligence Committee accusing the committee's Republicans of leaking information about Kramer's December testimony to the attorney of another witness. The attorney, Larry Robbins, was referencing a conversation with Cohen's attorney Stephen Ryan in which Ryan brought up Kramer's testimony, according to the source. After the conversation, Robbins sent the committee a letter demanding to know why a committee official had shared secret testimony with another lawyer, but instead his client was subpoenaed by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes to return before the committee on short notice.Leaking testimony to another witness is a violation of committee rules. And the fact that Cohen is alleged to have been the recipient of leaked information raises new questions about whether a key player in the President's orbit received private information about an investigation examining whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 elections.CNN first reported last month on the accusation that Kramer's testimony had been leaked to another lawyer. The Daily Beast first reported that Cohen's attorney was the recipient of the alleged leak.Kramer was of interest to the committee because of his role connected to the dossier written by Steele, which Nunes and other Republicans have sought to discredit. Kramer, who worked for McCain's think tank at Arizona State University in 2014, met with Steele in 2016. He and McCain then met with a former British ambassador to Russia who worked with Steele, according to UK court filings, and ultimately Kramer worked with Fusion GPS to obtain hard copies of the dossier.Cohen and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment. Robbins also did not respond to a request for comment.Emily Hytha, a spokeswoman for Rep. Mike Conaway, the Texas Republican running the committee's Russia investigation, told the Daily Beast that witness testimony was not shared improperly."Any accusation that a witness's testimony was shared with another witness or their lawyer is unequivocally false," she said. Hytha did not respond to a CNN request for comment.Cohen was interviewed by the House Intelligence Committee last year. His name has resurfaced in recent weeks over a 0,000 payment made in the weeks before the 2016 election to porn star Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006.There have been complaints about leaks from the committee coming from both sides of the aisle. Last week, there were suspicions in the Senate Intelligence Committee that the House Intelligence Committee Republicans had leaked Sen. Mark Warner's text messages with a lobbyist, although Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr denied his committee had reached that conclusion. And House Intelligence Committee Republicans accused Democrats of asking White House communications director Hope Hicks leading questions in order to leak that she had told white lies for Trump. 3481

As many feel the trauma inflicted by headlines of racial injustice, COVID-19 continues to hit minorities disproportionally in America. "I think the voices of the young people are being heard and they're speaking out," said Lessie Williams, a community advocate in Portland, Oregon.Williams spent 20 years building up and believing in the young people she serves. Through her church's non-profit organization, Highland Haven, she wanted to bring wrap-around services to families most at risk, expanding mental health services and creating youth violence prevention programs."Building relationships with them, let them know you really care and be your authentic self because kids know," said Williams. For many of those years, she worked alongside Pastor W. G. Hardy, who passed away in 2018.They took part in a national program administered by the CDC aimed at reducing racial and ethnic health disparities."We felt like, focus on health and wellness and try to get rid of some of those disparities in our communities," said Williams.Rather than make the change inside one church, they created a network of churches and community organizations serving African Americans in Multnomah County. Williams worked through this network to increase access to health care, bringing preventive services such as blood pressure screenings to community churches, and increasing access to healthy foods."The biggest thing for me was health. I come from a family of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and that's not talked about in our community. It's not talked about in our culture," said Teresa Johnson, co-chair for the Highland Haven Health and Wellness Team. They've reached thousands of people through this work, helping community members improve their physical health, manage their mental health, and cope with the traumas of racial injustice."We're going to Zoom and talk about the disparities that are going on in our community, how it is affecting our youth. We've got to wrap around our arms around the youth," explained Johnson. Williams' work earned her the CDC's first REACH Lark Award, an award celebrating those making tangible strides in achieving health equity."Inspirational, humbling, I was really surprised," said Williams. "She gave us the push we needed to get inspired and come up with these ideas and things to do to heighten awareness on health and wellness," said Barbara Perry, the Health and Wellness Coordinator at Life Change Church. While Williams is retiring, the firm foundation she's helped to build will continue on in the city."We always say it takes a village to raise a child," said Johnson. "Well, this village of churches decided we're going to tackle this for our community, and that was the greatest gift." 2737
