BELLEAIR, Fla. (AP/KGTV) — Haley Moore is a 22-year-old LPGA Tour rookie. The San Pasqual High School graduate made the winning putt in a playoff to clinch the 2018 NCAA championship for Arizona and qualified for the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur last year. She also has struggled with weight issues and self-esteem for much of her life. Bullies would call her fat, take her belongings, damage her personal property. Moore doesn’t hide from those moments or the pain they caused — or still cause. Instead, she talks about her story openly, sharing what she went through and how it didn’t stop her from achieving the goal of playing on the LPGA Tour."I think it was more of a motivation when I was bullied, at first it was very hard," Moore told ABC 10News in 2019. "I didn't want to play this game anymore. I was depressed."With support from her family — and golf family — Moore told ABC 10News she focused on her dream and past any negativity."Don't let them control your life, with me, just putting it aside and focusing on what my main goal was to get on the pro tour, really, helped me, motivated me from it," Moore said. That focus rewarded with the title of "pro golfer" now in front of her name."If you want to be a professional golfer, it takes a lot of hard work, and you just have to be patient out there, you're not always going to have the best days," Moore said. 1395

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – Millions of teachers are headed back to the classroom. But for many of them, it’s all remote. That means trying to teach through a screen. One teacher needed a way for his students to see what he was writing while still allowing them to see him teach. So, he came up with an innovative solution with a couple of pieces of wood and some imagination. With a miter saw, drill press and belt sander at the ready, Bob Pinta converted his home’s garage into a bustling workshop. The high school math and computer science teacher is solving an online teaching problem one contraption at a time.“I would be teaching, I could use my pen and share the screen, but no matter how good of a stylus you get, writing on the iPad is not the same as write it on paper,” said Pinta.Pinta found that his students could either see what he was writing or him, but not both. So, he designed a phone stand that could act as a virtual overhead projector.“I would join the zoom on my phone pointing the phone down at the table and I would have the students pin my hand so that it was the big one,” he explained. He says the height adjustable stand allows for a much more interactive lesson.“So, they would be able to follow along as I went, and they could see both my face and the paper as I zoom.”His wife posted a video to see if other teachers might be interested in one. It quickly racked up tens of thousands of views with orders pouring in from all over.“We have shipped across the United States.”Each weekend, they sit in the driveway for teachers wishing to pick one up in person. At plus shipping, Pinta says he wanted to keep the contraption, which doesn’t have an official name, affordable.“We wanted it cheap enough. A teacher could go ‘oh I'm going to try it’ and even if it doesn't work, they're out .”With more than 200 completed and another 160 in production, Pinta has proven if necessity is the mother of invention, then ingenuity is likely the father. 1979

Bonsall, Calif.,- Many horses and their owners are returning home to San Luis Rey Training Center, after the Lilac Fire devastated their homes. Chomping away at her breakfast is 6 year-old thoroughbred, Miss Napper Tandy. She is a sweet, race horse, who is also a survivor. “I smelled the smoke, and knew there could be trouble,” owner, Sam Nichols said, while recalling the troubling moments that changed their lives.Last December’s Lilac Fire burned 4,100 acres of North County, destroying 157 structures. One of them was their home— the stables at San Luis Rey Training Center in Bonsall.Miss Napper Tandy managed to get away from the flames, but found herself in a small pen with six other horses. In the chaos, she was badly injured.“She had been kicked pretty bad in the leg,” Nichols said. For a race horse, it was devastating. But thanks to donations and community support, she and dozens of her stable mates found a temporary home at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.“I rehabbed her here, I started working her here,” Nichols said.It worked. In her first race since the fire and her injury, Miss Napper Tandy took first.Adding to her title of “survivor,” she became a first-time “winner.”“It toughened her up, it made her more of a fighter. She’s always been a fighter, but she came through it pretty well,” Nichols said proudly. But five months after the devastation, temporary stables are now being opened up at San Luis Rey.Many riders and their horses are moving back.Miss Napper Tandy’s stay in Del Mar will soon come to a close.“It’s bittersweet going back. It’s been great for us and the horses. But also, we’re ready to go home,” Nichols said.10News is told more horses will be moving back into San Luis Rey Training Center in waves, throughout the next month.  1792

Black Friday is changing this year and it may actually be less hectic than usual.Because social distancing is so important, stores are doing what they can to mitigate crowds. That includes doing away with hourly deals.“You used to have to line up to get that 6 a.m. deal, that 5 a.m. deal, and retailers are making it a lot easier to get deals over the course of Black Friday or over the course of the entire weekend to discourage you from waiting in those lines on Black Friday and bunching up in crowds like they're trying to avoid,” said Lisa Rowan, personal finance expert at Forbes Advisor.Lines will be socially distanced, and stores will be monitoring how many people are in the store at once.Sale prices will also be extended to online orders that you can pick up in store or curbside. There will also be great Cyber Monday deals, but make sure you get those orders in as soon as possible.“If you're planning on shopping online during Black Friday weekend, now is the time to do it, because it gives you a little bit of extra time to make sure those packages are going to get to you before you want to put them under the tree,” said Rowan.A lot of retailers will not be open on Thanksgiving Day, so keep that in mind while you plan ahead.Deals are expected to last all through December. 1301

Blockbuster founder Wayne Huizenga has died. He was the only entrepreneur to create three different Fortune 500 companies during his career -- Blockbuster video, Waste Management and AutoNation. At one time, Huizenga, 80, had owned three sports teams where he lived in South Florida -- the Florida Marlins, the Florida Panthers and the Miami Dolphins. He was worth .8 billion, according to Forbes."He had a magic ability to create a business that was unmatched," said AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson, who confirmed the death. "Ideas were exploding in his head. He was bound and determined to out entrepreneur every other entrepreneur."Huizenga was awarded expansion franchises to bring both the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball to Miami in 1993. The following year he purchased the Miami Dolphins. While he owned the three sports teams at the same time, he didn't run all three major companies simultaneously. Instead he would sell one company and move onto the next idea he had."He started out on the back of a garbage truck in Fort Lauderdale. Then he bought a truck, and eventually he created Waste Management," said Jackson. "Then he rented a video and decided he could do better and next thing you know he was opening up Blockbuster store a day. Then he sold that to Viacom and decided there had to be a better way to buy a car and he created AutoNation."Blockbuster closed all of its stores in four years ago as consumers shifted to streaming and on demand video, but his other two companies remain dominant players in their respective fields. Waste Management is the leading provider of refuse and recycling services in North America, and AutoNation is the largest US auto dealership chain.  1724
