The makers of the wildly popular video game Fortnite are facing a lawsuit from a rival company that claims the game violates intellectual property.The PUBG Corporation, the makers of PlayerUnkonwn's Battlegrounds, filed the lawsuit against Epic Games, claiming that Fortnite copied the "last-man standing" game concept.MORE:?Fortnite: What it is and why it is so popularAccording to the BBC, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was first released in March 2017. Fortnite was first released a few months later in July, but didn't release its popular "Battle Royale" mode until September. Both Battlegrounds' and Fortnite's Battle Royale mode both host up to 100 players online at a single time. The object of both games is to eliminate all other players and be the last person standing, and both games take place on an island. According to The Verge, both games were also developed on Unreal Engine 4, a system developed by Epic Games.However, the games do have notable differences: Fortnite allows players to gather materials and build fortresses and barriers.While PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has waned in popularity, Fortnite has exploded around the world. The National Transportation Safety Board released a report Wednesday stating that the pilots were likely at fault with the August 2019 plane crash involving former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family in Tennessee.The report stated that the pilot's approaching the runway at Elizabethton Municipal Airport too fast and the flight crew's decision not to abort the landing was the likely cause of the crash.The plane then bounce landed, causing a landing gear to collapse, and the pilots losing control of the airplane."Contributing to the accident was the pilot's failure to deploy the speedbrakes during the initial touchdown, which may have prevented the runway excursion, and the pilot's attempt to go around after deployment of the thrust reversers," the report said.Earnhardt's wife and child were also onboard the plane when it crashed.The agency said the pilot and co-pilot were not injured, and the three passengers sustained minor injuries.You can read the full report below: NTSB Earnhardt Jr. Report by Sarah Dewberry on Scribd 1058

The outcome of the presidential election remained in doubt one day after polls closed throughout the United States.As of Wednesday afternoon, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had a slight advantage over President Donald Trump in electoral college votes, but several key swing states had yet to be called.A candidate needs 270 electoral college votes in order to claim the presidency. As of Wednesday afternoon, Biden had 248 Electoral College votes to Trump's 214.Just as it did in 2016, the outcome of the race will likely hinge on the results of three states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. As of Wednesday afternoon, the race in Michigan and Pennsylvania is too close to call. The Associated Press projects Biden will win Wisconsin, and its 10 electoral votes. Michigan (16 electoral votes) appears poised to offer close to a final count in the hours ahead. However, officials in Pennsylvania have cautioned that due to a high volume of mail-in votes, it may take several days to determine a winner of their 20 electoral votes.In 2016, Trump won Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin by about 100,000 combined votes.During a virtual press conference on Wednesday, the state's chief election official, Meagan Wolfe, said that nearly all jurisdictions have posted initial vote counts. That count will remain unofficial until the election is certified on Dec. 1.Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said in a statement Wednesday that the President plans to request a recount in Wisconsin.According to Wisconsin law, a candidate can request a recount if the margin of victory is within 1%. The mother of a Michigan high school student cried in court as a judge said her son's million bond would remain in place, but that he would consider written arguments from the teen's defense attorney next month.  The 17-year-old DeBruyne, a South Lyon High School student is charged with Making a Threat of Terrorism, which is a felony, after the teen allegedly asked friends on Snapchat if they wanted to reenact what happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida where 17 people were killed days earlier. One friend reported the post to police. DeBruyne lives in Green Oak Township with his parents, and after receiving report of the alleged threat, police went to the family's home where they said the teen had no firearms in his possession. Friends and some fellow students on South Lyon High's Cross Country team and their parents showed up at court Wednesday in support of DeBruyne. "I don't think Ryan DeBruyne is a danger to anybody," said Michelle Klevering who also called her son's friend a "very good kid" and "very responsible."DeBruyne's defense attorney, Zack Glaza, asked Judge Travis Reeds to consider lowering his client's million dollar bond. Judge Reeds said he would consider written motions on the matter on March 22 when DeBruyne is due back in court for a preliminary examination.   1391
