WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — On Saturday morning, the Grand Celebration docked at the Port of Palm Beach after sailing to the Bahamas to provide support to the victims of Hurricane Dorian. On board were hundreds of first responders, doctors, nurses and volunteers from Palm Beach County along with 225,000 pounds of supplies and food. They helped bring much-needed supplies to the devastated island.Grand Celebration was the first ship to dock at the harbor following the storm. After spending 24 hours in Freeport, the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line returned home with more than 1,100 Bahamian residents who evacuated after Hurricane Dorian stalled over Grand Bahama Island.“Grand Bahama is home to us and we knew it was the right thing to do; they needed help,” Oneil Khosa, CEO of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line said. “The situation on Grand Bahama is bad, the island needs help and the people need help.”First responders helped deliver a baby Friday in Freeport, which Khosa said signifies hope and progress for the island. This story was originally published by Ryan Hughes on 1082

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — It's hard to become a professional athlete. So, when an Ohio man got an offer to play football overseas, he was all in. However, the person recruiting him to play was playing him the whole time.Desmond Stanley has been tackling his dream to play professionally for a long time.“I started playing football when I was about 5,” the Willoughby, Ohio, man said. After graduating from Lake Erie College last year, he put his video highlights on the internet. He was determined to catch a break.“I thought I had a great opportunity with this Japan thing,” Stanley said. In late March, Stanley thought he scored a job after getting text messages from a man who said he was in Japan. "I was looking for a new opportunity," Stanley said. "It seemed like it was perfect."The supposed recruiter used the name of a real Japanese football team, sent Stanley a contract, and told him to pay for some processing. Stanley sent money through Western Union."You'll get the job immediately. They might not even interview you,” said Sue McConnell from the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland. She said job scams were among the top 10 most used schemes that hit the Cleveland area in 2018. “Suddenly, it turns sour because they are either going to want money from you for some kind of test or certification." And that's what happened to Stanley. He was told to pay nearly ,000 more to make the job complete. Stanley said no."The agent stepped in and he was like, 'What can you pay? I'll help you,' " he said.Stanley said he did his homework on the job offer, even asking experienced people in the sports industry to look over the contract."Everyone who I spoke with said it seemed ... it seemed legit,” Stanley said. This isn't the first time a scam like this has popped up. According to an 1815

When it comes to flooding, the problems most people think about are washed-out roads and underwater homes. But after rainstorms in Missouri and Iowa caused nearby rivers to rise, a family in Northeast Arkansas stumbled upon a 9-foot alligator far from its natural habitat -- in their rice field.Frank Pierce and his family told CNN affiliate WMC-TV that they found the massive gator basking in the sun on Thursday. The family lives about 90 miles from the Mississippi River and in the same county as one of its tributaries, the White River."Me and my brother and my wife and daughter were going fishing and we come around the curve and he was laying out there in the field," Pierce said.Pierce called the police, and the Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas told WMC-TV that they didn't believe the story at first.Lucas said, "When we first got the call, we thought well this is some kind of prank or a log or something because you just don't see gators this far north."But when they got to the scene, they were surprised to see that the call was, in fact, real. The gator greeted law enforcement in the same place it was spotted by the Pierce family.Lucas called the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, who said that the siting was due to the overflowing rivers. According to the National Wildlife Federation, alligators are more commonly found in Southeast states such as Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Texas.CNN Meteorologist Monica Garrett said water from the Mississippi River has been high for weeks and flooding will continue to be a concern into June. The ACFC said it's not uncommon when rivers flood for alligators to leave their usual homes. The commission also found another 4-foot gator nearby while trying to capture the larger animal. However, the gator escaped, and the commission representative told WMC-TV there's a chance no one will ever see it again. 1879

WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration is reporting the first U.S. drug shortage tied to the viral outbreak that began in China. The agency said late Thursday that the maker of the drug contacted health officials recently about the shortage. Officials declined to identify the manufacturer or the product. China ranks second among countries that export drugs and biotech medicines to the U.S. The agency says there are currently no U.S. shortages of biotech products, medical devices or other key health care products tied to the outbreak. 558
