SAN DIEGO - A crash into a fire hydrant sent a geyser of water 50 feet in the air and flooded homes in Chollas Creek Sunday afternoon, witnesses said.The accident happened around 2 p.m. when witnesses said a U-Haul backed into a fire hydrant near the 5000 block of University Avenue. The hydrant broke, sending water shooting into the air.A home, several cars and some apartments nearby were flooded. The water was shut off about 45 minutes after it started, witnesses said.There is no damage estimate at this time. 523

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A blaze broke out Tuesday morning at an unoccupied Mira Mesa house being used as a preschool and caused an estimated 0,000 in damage, authorities said.The fire was reported shortly after 2:15 a.m. at a single-story on Gold Coast Drive near Westonhill Drive, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.Crews responded to the scene and found flames fueled by a gas line on the outside of the home, the agency reported.The flames spread to the garage, attic and portions of the house before firefighters knocked down the flames within 45 minutes, fire officials said. No injuries were reported and the flames did not spread to any nearby homes.Video from the scene showed firefighters cutting their way into a garage to access the house. (KGTV) -- Three Camp Pendleton Marines were stabbed during a fight Saturday in San Clemente, a sheriff’s official confirms.The fight happened around 1 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot on the 200 block of El Camino Real.The three Marines, two aged 21 and the other a 23-year-old were involved in a fight with two men and a woman.RELATED: Woman finds Marine Corps ring on Florida's Siesta Key, hopes to find ownerDuring the fight, one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed all three Marines. Beginning July 1, California’s gas tax will increase by nearly six cents. Currently, the tax is 55.2 cents per gallon. When the additional tax kicks in, that figure will jump to more than 60 cents in taxes per gallon. Currently, the highest gas tax in the nation is in Pennsylvania at 58.7 cents.
