SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A La Jolla High School student was arrested Friday for threatening a school shooting this week.San Diego Police were made aware of a social media threat Thursday, however, police said the 15-year-old student made the threat Wednesday "to conduct a shooting at the school."The student was contacted Friday, SDPD said. Police searched the student's home but did not find any firearms. Police did not say if they believed the threat to be credible, but that it warranted investigation.Police said the student has been placed in Juvenile Hall."This is absolutely an example of how ‘See something, Say something’ is supposed to work," said SDPD Chief Michael Marquez. "Students warned administrators a threat had been made, and school leaders notified all parents of this report. Multiple parents then spoke with their students and uncovered potential evidence of a threat. In the end, it was this evidence which allowed police to take swift action this morning."Police said the student was already serving a suspension for a separate incident. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge is considering placement locations for a sexually violent predator convicted of sexual offenses against children between the ages of 4 and 9.Judge Howard Shore issued a written decision Tuesday that a proposed address on the 15000 block of Adams Drive in Pauma Valley was not suitable for the placement of Joseph Bocklett.A news release from the District Attorney said Judge Shore is considering other potential housing options.Bocklett was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19-year period involving children between the ages of 4 and 9.He was sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term before being committed to Coalinga State Hospital for treatment.Last year, Bocklett petitioned for the Conditional Release Program for sex offenders. He was granted conditional release to a supervised home. "I can certainly empathize with the feeling that people do not want someone like Mr. Bocklett in their community,'' Shore said during last Friday's hearing. ``I would be shocked if anyone wrote a letter saying, `We can't wait to have him living in our community.' SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man convicted of killing a San Diego Police officer in 1978 in the city's Skyline neighborhood has been granted parole by a review board.Jesus Cecena was convicted of killing SDPD officer Archie Buggs on Nov. 4, 1978, during a traffic stop. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after shooting the 30-year-old officer four times before killing him with a final shot at point-blank range, according to the San Diego District Attorney's office.According to Deputy District Attorney Richard Sachs on Wednesday, the parole board feels Cecena is no longer a risk to society. The San Diego District Attorney's office believes he should remain in prison."He hasn't come to grips with the crime. He doesn't own the causative factors of this offense. He does not accept his true motivation behind committing this crime," Sachs told 10News anchor Lindsey Pena on Tuesday.The former gang member was 17-years-old at the time of the slaying. His prison term was later modified to seven years-to-life due to his age, making him eligible for Youth Offender Parole.Since then, Cecena has been denied parole at least 14 times, the latest being 2019, 2017, 2016, and 2014. Each time, the seriousness of his crime was cited. The DA's office told 10News last year that Cecena has had an unstable social history in prison, receiving more than 10 violation reports for misconduct.Last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom denied Cecena parole.Tuesday, Pena spoke with Buggs' former partner, Jesse Navarro. Navarro was there the day he and his partner made the traffic stop and remembers the day vividly."It was a planned execution by gang members in the area. They'd been talking about killing a police officer in the area for a number of months," Navarro recalls.Buggs died right in Navarro's arms. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A police pursuit involving a man who failed to yield that started in the Los Angeles area took authorities all the way to San Diego Thursday.The suspect, later identified as Karl Flores, 34, was driving a red Honda Civic when he failed to yield on Washington Boulevard at about 11 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The man had first been reported as a stolen vehicle suspect, but police eventually said that was not the case.Flores then took police on a pursuit through the Los Angeles area, at one point hitting a pedestrian riding a scooter. The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.WATCH THE PURSUIT LIVE:Flores continued into the Inglewood area before avoiding a PIT maneuver by police that sent the Honda spinning, KABC reported. He continued fleeing police, avoided more PIT maneuver attempts, and drove from southbound Interstate 405 to Interstate 5 into San Diego.The vehicle stopped on I-5 near Las Pulgas Rd. at about 1:30 p.m., prompting a police standoff and Sig Alert was issued for both directions of I-5 at Las Pulgas Rd. CHP said it appeared the vehicle had run out of gas.
