(KGTV) - An explosive fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a home in Lemon Grove, Heartland Fire officials said.The flames erupted at 1783 Dupont Drive just before 4 p.m. and were accompanied by explosions, according to firefighters. When crews arrived at the scene, the home was 50 percent engulfed in flames.The Sheriff's Department told 10News neighboring homes were evacuated due to the safety risk.Crews at the scene resuscitated a cat in the front yard, 10News reporter Matt Boone said. Law enforcement arrested a man in connection with a West Palm Beach-area sledgehammer attack and theft of thousands of dollars?in February.Roady Sanozier, 38, is charged with hitting a courier, employed by Cord Financial Services, with a sledgehammer and stealing 8,000 in a heist at a business center on North Australian Avenue in Mangonia Park.On the day of the attack, the suspect fled the scene in a black Toyota Tundra. Law enforcement searched a neighborhood near the scene the day of the attack and robbery but did not arrest anyone.Sanozier, a former Cord Financial employee who was fired in August 2017 for stealing more than ,000 in cash from the company, was developed as a possible suspect in the robbery.A probable cause affidavit said that Sanozier posted a video on April 21 of himself near a black Toyota that was parked beside his car.Using that video and Google Maps, detectives traced the video to a home in Coral Springs, where they found him and took him into custody on April 25.Sanozier admitted to police that he wired ,000 cash to Haiti on Feb. 17 and bought three vehicles for a total cash value spent of ,500.A friend of Sanozier owned the Toyota Tundra, but investigators believe Sanozier was the getaway driver the day of the robbery.He faces homicide, battery, robbery and larceny charges in connection with the attack.  At a Wednesday morning court hearing, no bond was issued. (KGTV) - A new group formed on social media in response to the destruction of looters and arsonists after Saturday's peaceful protest against injustice.La Mesa Civil Defense is a Facebook group formed Monday by Attorney Scott McMillan. McMIllan was devastated by the chaos Saturday night, "we lost our museum, we lost our art gallery, we lost two of our banks... I did not want to see it [La Mesa] burn to the ground."McMillan said the goal of the page is to communicate how they will protect the town should anything happen in the future, "La Mesa Civil Defense is going to stand in front of the buildings with fire extinguishers and garden hoses and their presence."He said he stood at Nebo Dr. and Lemon Ave. from 7:30 p.m. Saturday night until 6 a.m. guarding local businesses and trying to get looters to stop causing destruction.He said a few people spoke with him.One man explained he was upset about George Floyd's death, McMiIllan said he responded saying, "how does breaking (a neighboring boutique that's been around for 10 years) her windows and stealing her merchandise, honor the memory of George Floyd?"He said the man left and came back to tell McMillan he was right.Those are the conversations he hopes blossom from this group and bring peace to La Mesa.McMillan said he is not asking anyone to use lethal force unless they feel like their life is being threatened.He said they are stepping in to help police and firefighters overwhelmed during these times. 10News reached out to La Mesa PD for a comment and have not heard back. 1571

LEMON GROVE (CNS) - The Lemon Grove Goodwill store had to be evacuated today after authorities received a report of a grenade being found.Dispatchers were told around 10:30 a.m. that someone found a possibly-functional grenade at the Goodwill on Broadway near Lemon Grove Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The Bomb and Arson Unit went to the store to investigate.A sheriff's department spokesman said he couldn't confirm if the grenade was determined to be live or not, but said investigators had cleared the scene and the store was safe to enter. 584
