SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) issued a joint communique here Monday, vowing to cement bilateral relations.     The two countries pledged to broaden and enhance cooperation, and intensify coordination on regional and international issues so as to achieve long-term common development while contributing to world peace and prosperity, according to the joint communique issued during President Hu Jintao's state visit to the ROK.     The two sides agreed to promote the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries in a comprehensive way.     The two heads of state expressed their satisfaction over the development of bilateral ties in various fields including politics, economy and culture since China and the ROK established diplomatic relations in 1992. Hu Jintao arrived in Seoul on Monday for a two-day state visit to ROKOn the Taiwan issue, the ROK reiterated its adherence to the one-China policy.     The ROK pledged to further develop ties with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) through reconciliation and cooperation, while the Chinese side reaffirmed its support for the reconciliation process between the ROK and the DPRK and their final peaceful reunification.     China and the ROK will maintain frequent exchange of high-level visits and contacts, the communique said.     Diplomatic bodies of the two countries will hold advanced strategic dialogues this year, as the start-up of a strategic dialogue mechanism of exchanging views on important issues concerning bilateral common interests.     Besides, foreign ministries of the two countries will establish a mechanism of coordination in a bid to further exchanges on foreign policy and international situation, the communique said.     Experts from the two countries will launch joint research on promoting all-round bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and hand in their reports to the two governments.     In addition, senior officials from the defense bodies of the two countries will also increase contact and strengthen exchanges and cooperation on multiple levels.     On economic and trade cooperation, the two countries vow to intensify cooperation in trade and investment, inspection and quarantine, trade relief and intellectual property rights, in an effort to bring forward the target of annual bilateral trade worth200 billion U.S. dollars to 2010.     Meanwhile, the two countries will facilitate the adjustment and supplementation of the Medium and Long Term Development Vision for China-ROK Economic and Trade Cooperation.     The two nations are willing to work together to further expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation, the communique said.     In addition, cooperation in fields such as environment, information and communication, logistics and energy will also be pushed forward. He last visited the country in November 2005.

BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday urged all the members of the Communist Party of China(CPC) to put people's interests first and learn the bitter lessons from the latest security incidents.     Addressing the opening ceremony of a seminar for the country's ministerial-level leaders in Beijing, Hu, also the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, said that the major accidents on work and food safety which occurred in some places of the country this year had incurred severe losses of people's lives and property.     These accidents had indicated that some leaders lacked a sense of responsibility and had a loose governance, he said.     These accidents also showed some of the leaders paid no attention to people's problems and complaints and were insensitiveto the problems which threats people's life security, said Hu.     He urged all the leaders to fully understand the serious consequences of the accidents and learn the bitter lessons from the accidents.     Those accidents reminded us once again that only by solving the problems emerged from the Party leaders ... and putting people's interests first, could the Party better lead the people towards the building of a well-off society, Hu said.     The President also urged more efforts from the leaders to realize and safeguard the fundamental interests of the people.     Leaders should strive hard to do practical and good things for the people and ensure that people benefits from the country's developing economy, he noted.     More efforts should be made to mobilize people to be involved in the cause of the country's scientific development, and leaders should collect people's ideas and listen to their opinions in the process, he said.

BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The headquarters for quake-relief command of the State Council, China's Cabinet, on Thursday called for priority in reconstructing public facilities such as schools and hospitals in the country's southwestern quake-hit region.     At a regular meeting presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, the headquarters clarified the main tasks of the relief and reconstruction in the quake-hit zone, giving priority to rebuilding and quality of public facilities that were closely related to the lives of local residents. You have been on the frontline to assist quake victims when bearing great pains of losing the beloved. All of us should learn from you."     A day after the quake, Jiang learnt that ten members of her family living in Beichuan county, one of the worst-hit areas, passed away including her only daughter.     She was working as a police officer in the neighboring city Pengzhou.     "I felt that the sky was falling. I can't believe that. I had just talked with my baby girl on phone a day ago," she once recalled the dark moment in an interview.     But Jiang did not leave her post as more and more displaced people came to Pengzhou from quake-hit areas and the police had to help them settle down. In the week following the earthquake, she had worked at temporary shelter camps and barely slept until she fainted on the spot and was sent to hospital.     Jiang has showed the best of Chinese police officers, Zhou said.     He hoped that local police officers and those from other parts of China to assist quake relief would stick to such a noble spirit to work together and well serve their duty in a bid to help create a stable society in the quake-affected areas.     Jiang said she would not fail the Party and people's expectation and work harder in her own post.
