I've had the dog for 10 years," said Lorrie Snowden, dog's owner.Snowden came home from the store on Wednesday afternoon to find Petta lying outside her door, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. "While I was gone, somebody broke into my house and attacked my dog, and then took my dog and attacked her somewhere else," said Snowden.The cockapoo was stabbed as many as 15 times. Somehow Petta found her way home."She had to crawl back and let her owner know something was wrong," said Snowden.She took Petta to an emergency vet clinic, but there was nothing they could do."They had to put her down. In mid-July, California’s department of transportation, known as CalTrans, was supposed to break ground on a highway construction project that was expected to take 18 days.The work was to repair and repave 800 feet of the busy 101 Freeway that connects San Francisco to the mainland, but the work never started because the project wrapped up in April, months before it was originally expected to begin."In the Bay Area, it was one of our busier years,” said CalTrans spokesman Bart Ney.The only reason contractors were able to start and complete the project months ahead of schedule was because of COVID-19.“We had to reduce traffic in normal situations by 30%, which was going to be very difficult,” said Ney. INDIANAPOLIS -- An abused dog that was shot and left for dead has a new lease on life after an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer and his wife, a paramedic with the Wayne Township Fire Department decided to step in and help. Officer Tim Elliott was on patrol when he came across the dog that had been shot in the face and doused in bleach. Wayne Township Fire Department Captain Mike Pruitt says Officer Elliott and his fellow officers rushed in to help and took the pup to the emergency vet to try and save him. "Still alive and wagging his tail, Tim and Tiffany couldn't let this little guy perish at the hands of a savage criminal owner," said Pruitt. Pruitt says the couple fell in love with the pup and decided to save him. The pup, who's been lovingly nicknamed "Winks,"  will need surgery to have his eye removed as well as other medical treatments from the damage his previous owner had done, The Elliott family is raising money to try to help cover those costs which are expected to exceed ,500. "Winks now has a forever home full of love and a "brother" (Gauge) to help him through this," said Captain Pruitt.
