CITRUS COUNTY, Florida — A woman was attacked by an alligator on Wednesday while she was swimming in a lake in Citrus County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.The FWC says 24-year-old Felicitie Marie Gillette was swimming in Lake Hernando around 1 a.m. when an alligator grabbed her by the left arm and began to drag her underwater. She was reportedly able to fight off the alligator and call 911 for help.Gillette was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries. According to the FWC, she was treated and released. She sustained non-life threatening injuries.The alligator is believed to 5 to 6-feet long.The FWC and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office are working to catch the alligator. A trapper has also been called to the scene.The public beach access to Lake Hernando is closed while a wildlife trapper searches for the alligator.Families who visit the lake say they've seen an alligator swim along the beach's public access area."The alligator was on the hunt," said Dennis Weis. "You could tell by the aggressive movements by the alligator."Dennis Weis shared cell phone video with ABC Action News showing an alligator roaming in the water near the beach, just a few days before the attack. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- The owner of The Coronado Flower Lady, a popular flower stand along Orange Avenue, is trying to rebuild after a suspected drunk driver destroyed her business. Coronado police say 22-year-old Elias Atayee is being charged with felony DUI after crashing his car into the stand. They say Atayee also had a female passenger inside his car. RELATED: Driver slams into Coronado pole, picnic tables“The fact that there are people drinking and driving, going 90-100 miles per hour, I have my kids out here with me all the time at work," owner Shanel Albert said. "There are tons of kids out here and people. If one of my girls would have been here during the day and that happened, they would have been dead. And that scares me.” Thanks to the City of Coronado, Albert will be back selling her flowers on a table in the same spot until she can permanently rebuild her stand. CORONADO (KGTV): Five trees at Coronado's Spreckels Park may need to be cut down before they fall down.The trees, all of them Sugar Gum Eucalyptus, are either at "High" or "Moderate" risk of failure, according to an arborist's report presented to the City Council last week.One tree, the one deemed the highest risk, is already scheduled for demolition. That will happen Tuesday, starting at 6 am. That tree is in the Northeast corner of the park.The other four will be monitored, including two trees with branches that hang over the children's playground.The city hired West Coast Arborist to study all 95 trees in the park after a pine tree collapsed in September.City Code gives the Department of Public Services the authority to decide which trees should or should not be cut down. According to the rules, trees will be removed if they present, "a condition that is hazardous, are in declining or poor health and the condition cannot be corrected by pruning or any other means."Since 2010, the city has removed nine trees from the park. Five other trees have either fallen or had branches fall off. 1115

CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Sequoyah High School students were not afraid to speak out after they said school officials told them they had to remove American flags mounted on their vehicles.On Thursday, a student showed up to the school, located about 40 minutes northwest of Tulsa, with a flag mounted on his car. “As soon as we got out of our cars in the parking lot they were already on us trying to get them down," student Kennith Hoover said. “The American flag symbolizes no racism and it's just strictly for America's freedom," student Jake Storts said. It's a symbol of patriotism, freedom and history. “I think it’s a fight that they picked that they will never win," local business owner Larry Banzet said. “The flag was in great shape, it was mounted properly," Hoover said. "It looked perfect. There was no kind of disrespect about it and they told him to take it down.” Friday, a group of students decided to stand with their friend. “You can’t tell a kid to take the flag down," Hoover said. "We disagree with that so that’s how it started.” “We’re not allowed to fly them because he can’t allow the Islamic or the KKK flag then he can’t allow the American flag," Storts said. Hoover says the school's reasoning change more than once. “Yesterday they said it was a distraction to drivers and students," he said. "Today they were telling me 'you have it mounted wrong' and then they told me it was illegal to fly it the way I was behind my car.” The school district released the following statement to Scripps station KJRH in Tulsa:"Sequoyah Public School is a patriotic school and surrounding community.
