Some stores may only allow you to purchase one item, particularly large, popular and/or deeply discounted products.Know the advertiser. Some of the best deals are only available online, but be careful. It’s easy for a fake site to mimic a famous retailer’s website, so make sure you are shopping with a legitimate site. Boeing has unveiled its newest line of business jets, which the company says will allow VIP travelers to fly nonstop between "any two cities on Earth."The BBJ 777X planes will have a range of 11,645 nautical miles (21,570 km), enabling them to offer the longest commercial flight in the world.Depending on which routes the jets are used on, the new models mean Boeing could wrestle the crown for farthest nonstop travel away from Airbus.Earlier this year, Singapore Airlines resumed its 17-hour flights between London and Singapore on Airbus A350-900 ULR (Ultra-Long Range) jets.But the distance traveled on the record-breaking flights is a mere 9,000 nautical miles (16,700 kilometers), putting it below the range Boeing's new jets are capable of.The planes "can fly more than halfway around the world without stopping, farther than any business jet ever built," the company said in a statement."Our most exclusive customers want to travel with the best space and comfort and fly directly to their destination. The new BBJ 777X will be able to do this like no other airplane before it, redefining ultra-long range VIP travel," Greg Laxton, head of Boeing Business Jets, added at the Middle East Business Aviation Association Show (MEBAA).The jets could be used to connect New York City with Perth in Western Australia, a journey which currently requires a connection and takes more than a day to make.Two versions of the jets have been made, the BBJ 777-8 and 777-9, with the latter offering a slightly shorter range of 11,000 nautical miles (20,370 kilometers) but boasting a larger cabin.The company has released renderings of the plane's interior, although it has not sold any of the planes yet.Other business jets produced by Boeing include the BBJ MAX and high-performance versions of its 787 Dreamliner.Since forming in 1996, Boeing Business Jets has delivered 234 jets on 261 orders. 1909

BOSTON, Massachusetts — Just a few years ago, Michael Farid was a mechanical engineering student, trying to build a powered skateboard that could be controlled with body weight, similar to a Segway.But that didn’t pan out.As Farid recalls, he and his three business partners—all MIT grads—dabbled with various ideas (and even some prototypes) before they said to themselves, “Hey, let’s build a robot that can cook food!”“It started more as an engineering project,” Farid said. “Then over the course of time we evaluated what business model might work for this and what might not work for this. Basically we decided that starting a restaurant was the best way to derive as much value as we could from it.”Thus Spyce was born.“We were in school. We had a hard time finding a healthy delicious meal for anything cheaper than say or , and we were studying robotics…so naturally this is what we came up with.”Situated in the heart of downtown Boston, Spyce is turning heads; lunch rush customers have lined up out the door. The main attraction is its seven rotating robotic woks, heated via induction, that cook meals all on their own.Farid, Spyce’s co-founder and CEO, knows customers may come in for the novelty, but he hopes they stay for the cuisine.The menu consists of various types of international cuisine; some of the menu items include the “Thai Bowl,” the “Latin Bowl” and an “Indian bowl.”Executive chef Sam Benson — under the guidance of world renowned chef with several Michelin stars to his name Daniel Boulud — worked to create a menu that reminded him of his upbringing in New York.“Every cuisine you can imagine is there in New York City,” Benson said. “That’s something I wanted.”As to the difficulties a chef is faced with when asking a robot to do his or her work?“It was a challenge,” Benson said. “[For example,] dispensing kale so it was perfect…making sure the ingredients were handled correctly. We are working with a tool and technology that hasn’t been invented yet. So it’s like ‘OK, here’s the chef, here’s the Spyce robotic kitchen, let's merge these two, hospitality and technology.”Customers order at a kiosk, and almost immediately they’ll see their name appear on a digital monitor positioned above the robotic wok that will start cooking their order.Ingredients are stored in refrigerated bins behind the woks, and a device they call a “runner” moves back and forth collecting various grains, vegetables and sauces to dispense. The menu offers items with chicken, but they say that “for food safety reasons” their chicken is pre-cooked at a commissary off site. Meals take roughly 2-and-a-half minutes to cook, and once finished the robotic wok tips over—by itself, of course—and pours the finished entrée into a bowl.  The only time a human interacts with the food is when an employee adds any garnishes that a customer has selected. That person then puts a lid on the bowl and affixes a pre-printed sticker with the customer’s name.Farid acknowledges the fact that a restaurant concept like this does employ fewer people, but he says it’s a trade-off for efficiency and quality food that costs less. (Each bowl costs .50)“Definitely the goal was not to eliminate people from the process,” Farid said. “The goal was to deliver a really great delicious, exciting bowl at a more affordable price point that’s accessible to people at a lot of income levels.”He demurs when asked if their concept is the future of restaurants—“it’s a little early to say”—but they aren’t shy about their desires to expand.“We see ourselves primarily as a restaurant company first and tech company second. We would love to serve more people by opening a bunch more restaurants.” 3746

  

Brewing beer can be back breaking labor.Every day, while working at Living Waters Brewing in East Nashville, Thomas Becker lifts heavy bags of grain and kegs of beer. He says the constant physical grind is taking a toll on his body.“It hurts. It hurts a lot,” Becker said. “Sometimes I’ve had some days it’s hard just getting into the car after work.”Now, relief might be found right next-door at a HeroWear, a startup that designed an exosuit to literally take weight off people’s backs.“With a simple press of the button, you’re able to engage the assistance,” said Karl Zelik, Ph.D., an engineering professor at Vanderbilt University who is now the chief scientific officer of HeroWear, a new company with a mission of creating exoskeleton technology for everyone.“We’re simply taking advantage of the laws of physics to help reduce some of the strain on your back,” Zelik said of his team’s back-assist exosuit, which is designed for people in physically demanding jobs.The suit is like wearing a small backpack and some leg compression shorts, except when you bend down, it takes strain off a person’s back. There are versions designed for men and women.“There are elastic bands that are located along your back,” Zelik said. “When you bend down, instead of all of the strain going through your back muscles, some of that strain gets offloaded and goes through these elastic bands instead.”According to health experts, nearly 80% of Americans will suffer from back pain at some point during their lifetime. And while a new study by HeroWear shows this exosuit can cut down on back fatigue by up to 40%, spine specialists have some questions.“It is quite a contraption,” said William J. Lauretti, DC, a professor of chiropractic clinical sciences at New York Chiropractic College. “So, I couldn’t imagine working a whole day wearing it.”Lauretti says some of the alleged benefits of this exosuit could, in reality, be the result of a placebo effect.“If you’re wearing something like that,” he said, “ I think you’re more likely to be a little more cautious about what you do just because you’re wearing this big thing.”The exosuit costs ,200. For people in physically demanding jobs like Becker, the benefits are real.“It feels like when you bend down,” he said, “when you start to stand up, somebody is helping you stand up.”Becker added you can’t put a price tag on pain relief.“Definitely worth investing in,” he said. “Because this is me taking care of myself and taking care of my back for the future. Making sure I’m not going to be in pain long-term.” 2572

  

Black Friday is changing this year and it may actually be less hectic than usual.Because social distancing is so important, stores are doing what they can to mitigate crowds. That includes doing away with hourly deals.“You used to have to line up to get that 6 a.m. deal, that 5 a.m. deal, and retailers are making it a lot easier to get deals over the course of Black Friday or over the course of the entire weekend to discourage you from waiting in those lines on Black Friday and bunching up in crowds like they're trying to avoid,” said Lisa Rowan, personal finance expert at Forbes Advisor.Lines will be socially distanced, and stores will be monitoring how many people are in the store at once.Sale prices will also be extended to online orders that you can pick up in store or curbside.There will also be great Cyber Monday deals, but make sure you get those orders in as soon as possible.“If you're planning on shopping online during Black Friday weekend, now is the time to do it, because it gives you a little bit of extra time to make sure those packages are going to get to you before you want to put them under the tree,” said Rowan.A lot of retailers will not be open on Thanksgiving Day, so keep that in mind while you plan ahead.Deals are expected to last all through December. 1301
