Oakland County Sheriff's deputies say an 11-year-old allegedly stole a rental car from a Pontiac, Michigan resident.Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle as the caller said they may have left the keys in the ignition before the car went missing.An hour later, the victim called 911 to report that he observed a subject driving the rental car and had blocked it from moving in a parking space in an apartment complex. He told deputies that the suspect had fled from the stolen vehicle prior to their arrival.Deputies checked the area and located the suspect hiding near a railroad overpass. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended by deputies and taken into custody.There was damaged observed on the rental car, police say.  759

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon has pulled out of a job as a correspondent for NBC at the Winter Games in South Korea.News broke earlier Sunday that Rippon, one of the first openly gay U.S. athletes to compete at the Olympics, was being hired to work on TV, digital and social media for NBC for the remainder of the Games in Pyeongchang.NBC tweeted out the news Sunday morning, welcoming the 28-year-old bronze medalist to its team.But Rippon said hours later that although he was "so flattered" by NBC's offer, he decided against the move because it would mean leaving his U.S. teammates and the Olympic Village."It's so important to me, you know, I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events, and that meant so much to me, that I really feel like I need to be there for them during their events," he said on NBCSN.NBC's article online about Rippon becoming one of its correspondents now redirects readers to his Olympic profile page.Rippon later suggested he only learned about the network's plans to hire him from social media."I actually found everything out about the offer via twitter HAHA," he tweeted. OCEANSIDE, Calif., (KGTV) — The regional shutdown of many business sectors begins Sunday at 11:59 p.m., leaving thousands of people jobless in the middle of the holiday season.Donald Murray is a regular customer at Copperwood Barber Shop in Oceanside."[I get the] 'High and tight' I guess is what they call it," Murray laughed. "Low maintenance."Brothers Allen and Sherman Morris opened the shop in 1988, serving thousands of customers simple cuts. But this year, business has been anything but simple."We don't understand why they keep shutting us down," barber Adriana Hinojosa sighed.Hinojosa says since the pandemic began in March, customer numbers dipped under 50%. Owner Sherman Morris has not been into his shop due to health risks."We don't want him to get sick," Hinojosa said.The old school shop made adjustments with every new restriction, serving customers in every other chair, buying sanitation goods, and even going outside for a few weeks."This summer, it was hot, we were sweating, the customers were sweating, so it was kind of hard," Hinojosa said.But once again, they must shut their doors completely. OAKLAND, Calif. (KGTV) -- A young child apparently shot himself in the head at a home in Oakland Wednesday, multiple media outlets reported. The shooting, which happened on Ritchie Street, appeared to be an accident, police said. The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition, KGO reported.Police told KGO at least one adult was inside the home at the time.
