A former University of Airzona athlete was the first witness today in the trial of a coach accused of choking her.Baillie Gibson was a shot put and discus thrower at Arizona. A Cape Coral, Florida woman is in jail on a DUI charge after police say she bought more wine after crashing in a Publix parking lot.50-year-old Lisa Lehman is facing charges of DUI and Hit and Run.According to Cape Coral Police, around 8 a.m. Sunday, a customer came out of the Publix on Cape Coral Parkway to find her parked vehicle damaged.As the victim talked to police at the scene, Lehman arrived, placed a brown bag in her car, and identified herself as the driver of the car.  She admitted that she had hit and damaged the victim's car. Officers noted that Lehman was having balance issues and smelled of alcohol.EMS checked Lehman and found no medical issues, and officers conducted a DUI investigation, during which she failed several sobriety tests, according to a police report.Lehman was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail.A search of her vehicle revealed an empty Chardonnay bottle under a seat, and the brown bag contained a bottle of Moscato she had just purchased from Publix. 1040

A horse and donkey rescue shelter in Glennwood, IA is feeling the pain of the cold winter months.Genea Stoops, the owner of Hooves and Paws Rescue says they've been hit with a shortage of space and increase in hay prices.The shelter currently cares for 31 horses and donkeys, including seven mini horses that have sicknesses or injuries and are being rehabilitated. After a tough winter, Stoops said more horses are in need of rescue."We're starting to deal with a lot of neglect cases coming out of winter. It was a hard winter for us," said Stoops. With the bitter cold, Stoops said extra hay and straw was needed to feed the horses and keep the minis warm in their stalls. With the demand in hay, the feed costs increased."Now we're cutting into spring, and nobody's cut their hay so we're using last year's hay, which is not unusual but there's a lot of high prices on the hay and not everyone can afford it," added Stoops.Stoops says in Nebraska and Iowa, hay typically costs to a bale, but with the demand, prices have gone up to - per bale."There are neglect cases, and then there's people who are trying really hard and can't get hay. If we're having trouble finding hay, then I know others having trouble getting hay," said Stoops.There's now a waiting list of horses owners want to surrender to the shelter, but for now, Stoops is trying to get them more hay in the meantime.The horses also need spring shots which will cost the shelter at least ,100. You can learn more about the organization on their website. 1551

A female bottlenose dolphin died Tuesday at Dolphinaris Arizona, according to facility staffers.Alia, a 10-year-old bottlenose dolphin, "had displayed some unusual behaviors in the last few days" and "was being monitored," Jen Smith, a spokesperson for the attraction said in a written statement.She is the second dolphin to die at the facility in less than a year.In September, Bodie, a male bottlenose dolphin, died at the facility from a "rare muscle disease," the facility said at the time.An exact cause for Alia's death was not immediately known, Smith said. The facility will conduct a necropsy, an autopsy for animals, to try and determine her cause of death.She said Alia was with her caretakers and the other dolphins when she died."Alia will be greatly missed. She was a lively and loving part of the Dolphinaris family," a statement said.Dolpinaris?Arizona opened in October 2016 at the Odysea in the Desert complex near Loop 101 and Via de Ventura. It is part of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.At Dolphinaris, people pay for different interactive experiences with the dolphins both in the water and out of the water. A child had just moments to escape a carjacking when a thief jumped in the vehicle and sped off from a Detroit gas station, police say. According to Detroit Police, the female driver went inside the store to pay for gas. The suspect then entered the gold 2004 Pontiac Montana, and the 7-year-old girl barely managed to jump out of the minivan. Watch the surveillance video below: 402
