BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- China put the 2,298-km Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway, the world's longest, into a test operation on Saturday.
"Based on the results we've collected so far, the safety of underground water is generally guaranteed, particularly the safety of drinking water from underground," Du Ying, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said at a press conference.
The SOA said in a Saturday statement that the oilfield, jointly owned by the China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and the Chinese subsidiary of U.S. oil giant ConocoPhillips, has undergone a series of rectifications and has met conditions to resume normal operations.
