SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Federal indictments were unsealed Thursday charging 75 people nationwide, 40 in San Diego, with involvement in an international money-laundering scheme.Prosecutors said those charged have been involved with crimes ranging from drug distribution to money laundering.Investigators seized more than million, 95 kilograms of methamphetamine, 63 kilograms of heroin, 10 kilograms of fentanyl, 92 kilograms of cocaine, 252 kilograms of marijuana, and 20 firearms, including semiautomatic assault rifles and handguns.RELATED: Ex-MLB pitcher Esteban Loaiza now faces federal drug charge"We have siphoned the cash and the life out of a San Diego-based international money laundering organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel," U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman said. Feeding San Diego is helping bridge the hunger gap in hopes of making it easier for active-duty military, their families, and veterans to get the food they need and deserve. Desiree Mieir is a mom of four. Her husband is currently serving his tenth year in the Navy. She says the high cost of living in San Diego makes it tough to survive here. "It's several dollars of a difference as far as gas goes. Milk, eggs, all your basic necessities," said Mieir. "If we want to go on a day trip, we have to make room in the budget for that." Now, every month, the family gets access to free food at Dewey Elementary School, one of Feeding San Diego's distribution sites. The access gives families some financial relief without compromising the kid's nutrition. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Firefighters responded after a fire broke out in an abandoned building in San Diego’s Lincoln Park neighborhood Saturday morning. The fire started inside a building on Ocean View Boulevard and 47th Street around 9:30 a.m. Large plumes of black smoke could be seen from miles away. The building that caught fire is owned by a nearby church. According to a church official, the building was used to help house the homeless. The official told 10News the church recently told those staying in the building they had to leave after several incidents.At this time, it’s unclear what started the fire or if anyone was injured. "This fire has been stopped. Crews will be here for a few hours. Please use caution if you are in the area but take alternate routes if possible," San Diego Fire-Rescue said in a Tweet. 833
