Hurricane Willa has made landfall near Isla Del Bosque, Sinaloa, on the western coast of Mexico, approximately 50 miles south of Mazatlán.The storm will quickly weaken over the next 24 hours as it makes its way across the Sierra Madre range and becomes a rainmaker for northern Mexico and Texas on Wednesday. When Willa made landfall Tuesday evening, it had top winds of 120 MPH. The Category 3 storm, while still a major hurricane, has weakened since peaking as a Category 5 hurricane on Monday. Willa has been a danger for forecasters as well. An aircraft with the Air Force Reserve's Hurricane Hunters was forced to turn around Monday over concerns for its onboard equipment after a lightning bolt from one of Willa's outer rain bands blasted it, according to the National Hurricane Center. In a tweet Monday, Mexican President Enrique Pe?a Nieto said he has asked the National System of Civil Protection to take all steps necessary to protect those in the hurricane's path as well as those affected by Tropical Storm Vicente, a weaker system tracking south of Willa that's also primed to make landfall Tuesday. Vicente likely will be a tropical depression by the time it comes ashore, the hurricane center said.Airlines have started moving out of Willa's path. Southwest Airlines has canceled all flights at the international airport in Puerto Vallarta, a resort city in Jalisco state. American Airlines has canceled its flights in Mazatlán, about 275 miles to the north.Willa's landfall comes three years to the day after the strongest hurricane to hit the Pacific coast, Patricia, a Category 5 storm, made landfall in Jalisco. The back-to-back systems of Willa and Vicente have helped make the 2018 hurricane season in the northeast Pacific one for the record books. The season is now the most active hurricane season on record using a measurement called accumulated cyclone energy, which combines the number of storms and their intensity through their lifetimes to give an overall measurement of tropical activity in a given region. 2048

If you've ever wanted to be an FBI agent, but don't have a law enforcement background, now is your chance. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Martin Hellmer says in the cyber division, there's a place for you."There is a critical need for cyber minded people, technically trained people, across the board," he said.In the current day and age, Hellmer says people might not realize how much of a role technology, the Web, and cyber topics play in the FBI's ability to successfully investigate criminal matters."Most of what we do, whether we're investigating a bank robbery, a fugitive case, or a computer intrusion, a sophisticated computer intrusion, involves some sort of technical component, and therefore requires some technical know-how," Hellmer said. "Behind every computer or any smart device is a person. So there's always a human component to any sort of crime that that person might be conducting using their computer, smartphone, or any other sort of device."There is a big difference between cyber crime, and cyber warfare, according to the supervisory special agent."Cyber crime entails some sort of victimization of someone else. We usually think of that as financial victimization, or harassment, that sort of thing," he said. "Cyber warfare would entail a national security component."Now, more than ever according to Hellmer, the FBI is in need of cyber-minded people."System administration, general information technology, software engineering, network engineering, computer science," he said. "Any of those disciplines, or a background in any of those disciplines, is a need for the FBI right now."As cyber criminals are getting smarter and better at what they do, Hellmer says by recruiting bright minds, the FBI can always stay one step ahead of them."As criminals become more advanced in technical know-how and committing crimes online," he said. "We at the FBI try to remain one step ahead of them by hiring technically-minded people, smart people, who know cyber."If you'd like to learn more about careers at the FBI, click here. 2087
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is a GIF worth? For Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a GIF can clearly tell its own story. The Republican, who is an outspoken Trump critic, dismissed a Twitter attack from President Donald Trump on Monday by simply tweeting a GIF of Russian President Vladimir Putin laughing."The very unpopular Governor of Ohio (and failed presidential candidate) @JohnKasich hurt Troy Balderson's recent win by tamping down enthusiasm for an otherwise great candidate," Trump wrote Monday. "Even Kasich's Lt. Governor lost Gov. race because of his unpopularity. Credit to Troy on the BIG WIN!" 631
IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Imperial Beach is closing off traffic in front of the IB Pier in order to help businesses and restaurants utilize more space for social distancing. The city says Seacoast Drive, from Date Avenue to Elder Ave., will be closed to motorists from Saturday to Monday so that not only residents can social distance, but nearby retail stores and restaurants can get creative with spacing."With many businesses able to reopen to customers, we will see some 'out of the box' thinking from our businesses to maximize their area to increase spacial distancing," the city wrote on Facebook.RELATED:Pacific Beach's El Prez shut down for violating health ordersWhat to know: Changes at beaches, restaurants this Memorial Day weekendWith many retail stores and restaurants reopened this Memorial Day weekend, local cities expect more residents to head outdoors. While restaurants have been allowed to reopen under county guidelines, some establishments may see the county force them to close if they do not meet protocols.
