TULSA - Two women fought to stay alive as an armed robber broke into a midtown liquor store, the horrifying moments all caught on tape. Just one day after cheating death, when a man tried to a shatter a family for money, Justin Christian and his family are back to work. "You're not going to scare me off from my store this is what feeds my family this is what pays my bills," Owner of Forest Acres Liquor Justin Christian said. And customers were there not just to make purchases, but lay their eyes and hearts on the women who wouldn't give up without a fight. "I basically see a guy walk in the door from this angle and have a sawed off 12 gauge."Justin was out of town when his mother and sister took 36-year-old Tyrone Lee to task; now watching the video with us. "My mom says open the drawer, give him the money, give him the money."They gave him what he wanted then grabbed their guns, trying to lock him in the small room leading into the store.But one door didn't lock. "She's says stop, stop but he's still got the gun."He turns around, and that's when the fight to stay alive truly began. "He reached over, she ducked and fired again, and of course the gun's empty or else my mom and sister would be dead," Justin cried. He said Lee wanted to kill them. "What they're showing on TV ain't the real deal when you really watch it and know it and clean up the blood, and really understand what happened." He's just grateful it wasn't his family's blood he had to wipe from the floor. "The clerks did an outstanding job of fighting him," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker. But more importantly he's grateful for another chance to fight for his family. Tulsa Police said Lee is in critical condition but he's expected to survive; and when he does he'll be under arrest.  1854

Update, Mar. 1: The Board of Immigration Appeals granted an emergency stay Friday for Constantin Bakala. He'll likely return to Etowa, Alabama where his detention officer is located. Bakala's appeal could take months. The family will be working with an immigration attorney to bring Bakala to California.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A father of seven who migrated to America to flee persecution in Africa is set to be deported Friday night. Constantin Bakala was imprisoned in the Republic of Congo after supporting the wrong political power. Police allegedly raped his wife, killing their unborn child, robbed their businesses, killed their dog, and tried to poison the entire family. Bakala escaped from prison and took his family on a journey to America. On the way, their boat sank, and some of the children almost died. Once they got to America, Bakala was sent to Georgia. The rest of the family stayed in San Diego. Bakala went before a judge in Georgia who is known for being strict on asylum seekers. The judge ruled that he be deported. Meanwhile, Bakala's family in San Diego was granted asylum.Thursday, the day before Bakala was set to be deported, the family met in front of the federal courthouse to ask for help. Bakala’s wife Annie said, “I’m asking for your help because you know the laws and you are a champion of our protection. I’m asking for your strength because I have none left.”St. Luke’s Episcopal Church joined the family in their fight. Pastor Colin Mathewson said, “Bakala will die if we don’t help him. This is a life and death matter.”After the rally, the group took 500 signatures up to the federal ICE office. Congressman Juan Vargas has been very helpful in getting a stay for Bakala. However, the first stay will run out Friday. They have also asked for an emergency stay of deportation from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, but time is running out.The father will be deported Friday night to Morocco if nothing changes. 1956

TULSA, Okla. - Archaeologists said during a press conference on Tuesday that they have encountered human remains on day two of the second test excavation as they search for victims of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. Archaeologists said they do not know if the remains are from 1921 or not. I am very grateful to have the foremost experts in the country working to locate the remains of victims from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Today, our research team found an unmarked grave in an area previously identified through geophysical survey work. The next step will be to identify if the remains are associated with the Tulsa Race Massacre. This will be done through forensic analysis of the remains, and by comparing them with funeral home and death certificate records. We will continue to take this investigation one step at a time, wherever it may lead.Researchers said the investigation is expected to last one week but could extend into a second week, depending on the findings.The archaeologists are focusing on two areas in Oaklawn Cemetery this time around.The first site is adjacent to two 1921 race massacre headstones in the historically Black section of Potters Field; the second is a new dig site located on the Southwest section of the cemetery.In 2018, Mayor Bynum announced the City of Tulsa would re-examine potential graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. That investigation began in 2020 with crews conducting their search along the western edge of the cemetery. Archaeologists conducted extensive test excavations and concluded with no evidence of human remains.However, the search could continue beyond Oaklawn Cemetery. Researchers said several areas are still candidates for possible mass grave sites related to the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. UPDATE: 9:15 P.M.A man has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with officers at a Hillcrest rehabilitation center.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police Department officers are surrounding a Hillcrest neighborhood Saturday working to peacefully end a standoff with a person believed to be armed.According to SDPD's official Twitter page, the incident started around 4 p.m. after receiving reports about a man with a gun in the 4000 block of Sixth Avenue, east of Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.Police told 10News that around 4 p.m., an employee of the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center found a homeless man showering in a facility bathroom-laundry room.The man barricaded himself in the bathroom and has refused to speak with police. He has also vandalized the room using a fire extinguisher.The room is isolated away from the rest of the rehabilitation center, so patients there have not been evacuated but are being told to shelter in place.Police have called on the department's Emergency Negotiating Team and a SWAT team to assist with the incident. 1087

(KGTV) — A highly controversial Valley Center horse rescue is being sued for millions of dollars and now faces eviction.According to the lawsuit filed by the property owner, the nonprofit owes more than ,000 in rent. The suit also alleges that the nonprofit “maliciously and abusively” destroyed parts of the ranch. 10News first reported on HiCaliber Horse Rescue in February when the founder was accused, in part, of raising thousands of dollars to rescue horses from slaughter before euthanizing them by gunshot. The nonprofit said that all the bad publicity hurt its fundraising, so it began shutting down in April. However, it still hasn’t left the property. A judgement has now been issued to evict the nonprofit.In the lawsuit, the property owner is asking for more than million to compensate for property damage and lost rent.10News reached out to both the founder of the rescue and the property owner.
