SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties fell from July to August while median sales prices ticked up slightly, according to data released Monday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. Single-family home sales fell 7.4% -- from 2,144 in July to 1,985 last month -- while sales of attached properties, such as condominiums, fell 8.6% from 1,100 in July to 1,005 in August. Sales of both property types have vacillated between increases and decreases since May. Median sales prices of both property types have risen fairly steadily for most of the year, according to the GSDAR. Single-family home prices rose 0.5% from 7,000 in July to 0,000 in August, and attached property prices increased 1.2% from 5,000 in July to 0,000 last month. ``The 30-year mortgage rates are approaching the historic lows of 2016,'' SDAR President Kevin Burke said. ``Whether that can give the housing market some relief is still dependent on an increase in our supply of homes for sale. Until then, buyers will have to be on their game.'' Year-over-year property sales also fell last month when compared to August 2018. Single-family home sales decreased 3.8% from 2,064 in August 2018 to 1,985 last month, while attached property sales fell 6.9% from 1,079 in August 2018 to 1,005 in August of this year. Property prices didn't move much last month compared to their levels one year ago. Single-family home prices decreased 0.8% from 5,000 in August 2018 to 0,000 last month, while attached property prices jumped 3.5% from 5,000 in August of last year to 0,000 last month. Real estate agents sold 55 single-family homes in eastern Rancho Bernardo last month, the most of any ZIP code in the county. Ramona and northern Oceanside followed with 52 and 51, respectively. 1847

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect wanted for breaking into an apartment in Imperial Beach and allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while she slept was in custody Thursday evening.Alfred Ruiz-Sandoval, 24, is accused of sneaking in through a window to fondle a woman in her home early the morning of Sept. 3 in the 1300 block of Hemlock Avenue, near Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, according to Lt. Chad Boudreau of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The victim called 911 about 5 a.m. to report the invasion and sexual battery and told investigators the suspect ran from her home when she awoke. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A parolee who allegedly stabbed a pair of transients -- one fatally -- in two separate Midway District attacks on Thanksgiving Day was charged Friday with murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, of Ventura County, is accused of fatally stabbing 55-year-old Robert Erbe in the neck at about 8 a.m. Nov. 28 outside a business in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard, according to San Diego police.Brantley is also accused of stabbing another man three times in the back and arm on Sports Arena Boulevard about six hours prior to Erbe's slaying, according to Deputy District Attorney Will Hopkins. The prosecutor said that after stabbing the first victim around 2 a.m., Brantley returned to the area and approached Erbe and an unidentified second transient outside a 7-Eleven store.RELATED: Police identify man in deadly Thanksgiving Day Midway District stabbingHopkins said he offered Erbe drugs in a bag and then stabbed the victim while Erbe was looking through the bag.According to the prosecutor, Erbe asked Brantley why he stabbed him and Brantley responded, ``This is war,'' then stood over the victim and watched him bleed out.In the days following the stabbings, San Diego police circulated photographs of the defendant, which included images captured from surveillance footage on the San Diego trolley.Brantley was arrested in Ventura on Dec. 4 while walking near the intersection of the 101 Freeway and state Route 33, where officers recognized him from fugitive-suspect alerts, according to police in the coastal city north of Los Angeles.According to the prosecutor, Brantley posted on social media days prior to the stabbings that he was going to ``help the homeless,'' though his true intention was to target homeless victims.RELATED: Midway District murder suspect arrested in VenturaWhile the prosecution asked for no bail, San Diego County Superior Court Judge Jay Bloom set bail at million due to the ``totally senseless'' nature of the attacks on ``vulnerable victims,'' as well as the flight risk he believed Brantley represented. Brantley pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due back in court Dec. 24 for a readiness conference. The defendant has had a long history of run-ins with the law, including 34 arrests since 2000, according to Ventura police Cmdr. David Dickey said. ``The charges included burglary, robbery, elder abuse, drug-related offenses and property crimes. At the time of his (latest) arrest ... he was on active parole for attempted robbery, burglary, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon,'' Dickey said. His most public arrest, prior to the San Diego case, was a September 2016 incident, in which Brantley was arrested after allegedly breaking into a gift shop at a historic Spanish mission in downtown Ventura, stealing two crucifixes and using them to bludgeon five people, including a 75-year-old man, on nearby roadsides, according to Hopkins. 2977

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man suspected of fatally shooting the mother of his infant son along with the child's grandmother at the women's Otay Mesa home over the weekend has been found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Baja California, authorities said Tuesday.Mexican authorities found the body of 31-year-old Justice Love Peace in a vehicle on Monday, according to San Diego police. His death is believed to have been a suicide.Peace, also known as Jeremiah Alfred Horton, allegedly killed 37-year-old Elizabeth Stolz and her 65-year-old mother, Debora, during a custody dispute that erupted Sunday after he arrived at their residence in the 4300 block of Ebersole Drive to pick up the baby for visitation."This appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence," San Diego Police Lt. Matt Dobbs said.Officers responding to a report of a loud disturbance and gunfire found the women mortally wounded and the child gone.Peace, who was married to another woman, dropped his son off with his wife at her Rolando-area home before fleeing to Mexico, according to police. The child has been placed in protective custody at Polinsky Children's Center, a county-run shelter in Kearny Mesa. 1202
