That's not a typo.Patricia O'Grady moved to New York in 1955 to pursue a career as an actress. NEW YORK CITY — Fire marshals arrested a 36-year-old man accused of setting off fireworks that burned down a Brooklyn home last month, officials said Thursday.Officials said that the video shows Damien Bend igniting the illegal fireworks on June 24. Bend is charged with arson, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said."Illegal fireworks pose significant dangers to the safety of New Yorkers and their property," Nigro said. "Our Fire Marshals will continue to actively enforce the laws relating to illegal possession and sales of fireworks in New York City."Bend allegedly set off numerous fireworks, sending one of them through a window at around 9:25 p.m. last Friday night. Officials say he continued to light them, even as flames could be seen through the window of the 51st Street home.Video shows that one of the people with Bend appeared to be smoking a cigarette and filming himself as he shot off the fireworks. His friend, also filming himself, eventually noticed the house was burning at 9:32 p.m. — about seven minutes after the fire started. The video showed one of the men trying to contain the fire with a garden hose, to no avail."They were doing it in such a confined area it was just bound to happen," said FDNY Captain Michael Koco, director of safety education. "It was a recipe for disaster."The FDNY has set up one of a number of informational booths across the city to inform residents of the dangers of setting off fireworks, given the dramatic spike in complaints."A lot of times, the people that are being harmed are the bystanders," Koco said.In the last nine days, fire marshals in New York have arrested 17 people and confiscated nearly ,000 worth of illegal fireworks. It took 60 firefighters to knock down the blaze started by fireworks at 51st Street."They're illegal for a reason," Koco said. "You're talking about explosives. So you need someone who's a professional to handle them."This story was originally published by Aliza Chasan and Cristian Benavides on WPIX in New York City. 2021

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday is believed to be connected to a shooting at a federal judge's New Jersey home Sunday, killing her son and injuring her husband, law enforcement sources told PIX11 News. The man was found dead in a vehicle on Route 17 in Sullivan County, New York, wearing a FedEx shirt, sources said.Gov. Phil Murphy said he had no comment about the development when asked about it Monday at his daily press briefing. The discovery comes after a gunman opened fire at Judge Esther Salas' North Brunswick home Sunday, killing her 20-year-old son, Daniel, and wounding her husband, defense lawyer Mark Anderl, Chief District Judge Freda Wolfson told the Associated Press.Another law enforcement source, who wasn’t authorized to comment and spoke anonymously to the AP Sunday, said the gunman posed as a FedEx delivery driver. They said Salas wasn't injured as she was in the basement at the time of the shooting. The FBI said late Sunday it was looking for one suspect in connection with the shooting.Officials have not commented on any possible motive for the shooting.Judge Salas was set to preside over a class action lawsuit filed last Wednesday against Deutsche Bank. The suit claims the bank failed to properly monitor several high risk customer accounts, including one belonging to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.Gov. Murphy Sunday called the shooting a "senseless act.""This tragedy is our latest reminder that gun violence remains a crisis in our country and that our work to make every community safer isn’t done," he said.“I know Judge Salas and her husband well, and was proud to recommend her to President Obama for nomination to New Jersey’s federal bench," Sen. Bob Menendez said. "My prayers are with Judge Salas and her family, and that those responsible for this horrendous act are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.”North Brunswick Mayor Mac Womack said in a statement: "No words can express the sadness and loss we share tonight as a community after [the] senseless shootings...We commit to do all we can to support the family at this time, as well as all law enforcement agencies involved."The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office assisted the North Brunswick Police Department in the investigation. This story originally reported by Aliza Chasan , Associated Press , Katie Corrado on PIX11.com. 2409

NEW YORK (AP) — A person is in custody in connection with the killing of a 33-year-old tech entrepreneur found dismembered inside his luxury Manhattan condo. A law enforcement official said Friday the person in custody has been Fahim Saleh's personal assistant. Saleh was found dead in a gruesome scene Tuesday afternoon inside his apartment on the Lower East Side. Saleh was the CEO of a ride-hailing motorcycle startup called Gokada that began operating in Nigeria in 2018. Authorities say a relative called police after going to check on Saleh and making the gruesome discovery. 589

NEW YORK — A judge says Mary Trump can talk about the highly critical book she wrote about her uncle over the objections of President Donald Trump's brother. The ruling was issued late Monday by Judge Hal B. Greenwald in Poughkeepsie. The judge reversed orders he had issued temporarily blocking Mary Trump and her publisher, Simon & Schuster, from publishing or distributing a tell-all book about the president. An appeals judge had already lifted the order blocking Simon & Schuster. The book, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” was originally to be published at the end of July. The publisher announced last week it would be published Tuesday. Simon & Schuster and a lawyer for Mary Trump praised the ruling. 779
