Executive Chairman Robert Iger will give up his salary for the year in light of the coronavirus pandemic, while CEO Bob Chapek will take a 50 percent pay cut, the executives announced Monday.The moves come amid cutbacks in film and TV production and indefinite closures of Disney theme parks, cutting into the Burbank-based company's bottom line.In a company-wide email obtained by The Hollywood Reporter and other media outlets, Chapek wrote that the company is "implementing a variety of necessary measures designed to better position us to weather these extraordinary challenges.""Among them, we will be asking our senior executives to help shoulder the burden by taking a reduction in pay -- effective April 5, all VPs will have their salaries reduced by 20%, SVPs by 25% and EVPs and above by 30%," he wrote."... (KGTV) - Instead of planning for a wedding, loved ones of a Camp Pendleton marine were holding a funeral this Memorial Day weekend.From the moment Kathleen Bourque met Conor McDowell off a dating app last summer in Washington D.C., it was electric."Insane, crazy, passionate ... He has a huge heart and always puts others before himself, and I was really drawn to that," said Kathleen.Four days later, the graduate of The Citadel asked her to move to San Diego as he reported for duty at Camp Pendleton. She said yes. During the cross-country trip, she wondered aloud, 'What are we doing?'""He said, 'Kathleen, trust is a choice ... We're both insane, but at least we're insane together, and give them something to talk about," said Kathleen.Together, they moved into an apartment in Cardiff and their love grew. Just before Conor, 24, left for a 10-day training maneuver earlier this month, he called his mother and told her the engagement ring made with grandma's diamond's was almost ready."He said,'When I return from maneuvers, I'm going to formally propose to Kathleen, I said that's so wonderful,'" said Susan Flanigan, Conor's mother. That proposal would never happen. Gary Kessler, the Deputy Commissioner of Liquor and Lottery for the State of Vermont, says they're now encouraging people to buy lottery tickets in advance to help boost sales. Kessler said, "they could buy them out 20 draws in advance. So, they could be safe and stay in the game at the same time. That was really our message that we tried to get out to our players and players really did respond. We saw quite an increase in our subscription services, which is where you can buy for six months or for an entire year and know that those numbers are set."While most lottery departments have been established for decades, that's not the case in Mississippi. "We hadn't been up and running for a year. We’re still in the building process and we have layers to complete. When COVID-19 hit we had about half of a business continuity plan and it hadn’t been completed," said Mississippi Lottery President Tom Shaheen. While the Mississippi Lottery saw an initial drop in sales, in April things started to pick back up. CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - A U.S. Marine was fatally injured in a tactical- vehicle accident at Camp Pendleton, the Marine Corps announced Monday. The serviceman was one of three members of the elite Marine Raider Regiment involved in the accident, which occurred during a training exercise on Saturday, according to Maj. Nicholas Mannweiler of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command.The critically injured Marine was airlifted to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead Sunday night, Mannweiler said. CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Cal Fire responded Saturday afternoon to a large fire burning near the border in Campo. According to the agency, the fire is raging near Forest Gate Road and Border Road.Although Southern California Air Operations tweeted around 11:45 a.m. that the fire "is now well established on the U.S. side," Cal Fire says the blaze never reached the U.S. Air Operations said it sent several aircraft to the fire, including two tankers and two helicopters, but around 1 p.m., all aircraft were released from the fire. The agency said the fire is burning in light flashy fuels with a rapid rate of spread. The blaze is estimated at 50 to 100 acres currently, Cal Fire reported.
