BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Senior public security officials from China and Russia met here Friday, vowing to enhance cooperation and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.     This year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic ties, said China's Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu in a meeting with the Director of the Federal Security Guard Service of Russia Yevgeni Murov.     He praised the successful cooperation between the two countries' public security departments in the past years and called on the two sides to further enhance law enforcement cooperation within the framework of bilateral relations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).     Murov said China had accumulated valuable experience in safeguarding public security during the Beijing Olympics and the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.     Russia is willing to learn such experience from China and hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's Ministry of Public Security, he noted.

BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao played a major role in ensuring the success of the meetings related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by putting forward proposals to tackle the financial crisis and enhance regional cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Sunday. Wen returned to Beijing Sunday evening after attending the meetings, including the 12th summit between the ASEAN and China (10+1), the 12th summit between the ASEAN and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (10+3), the fourth East Asia Summit, in Hua Hin of Thailand from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25. Yang noted that Premier Wen put forward a number of proposals and measures, which both tackle the immediate urgent tasks and issues of common concern and take into account long-term strategic planning. These proposals fully indicated China's goodwill, sincerity, and its confidence and willingness for cooperation. BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The output value of China's energy saving and environmental protection industry would hit 2.8 trillion yuan (412 billion U.S. dollars) by 2012, said Xie Zhenhua, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission on Sunday.     Those sectors have become a new economic growth point and have bright prospects in China, Xie said at the fourth China-Japan Energy-saving and Environment Protection Forum which began Sunday.     He said the government will beef up investment in the construction of resource recycling projects, which will directly boost the industry development.     He noted the government will further reform the pricing system of the resource products.     Enterprises should also enhance innovation to break technological bottleneck notably in the development of clean coal transfer technology and pollutants treatment facilities.     China has been pushing for a national energy saving campaign to address the worsening conflicts between economic growth and environmental deterioration.
