ALPINE (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a collision with a truck on a rural East County road.The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Japatul Valley Road, near Bell Bluff Truck Trail in the Alpine area, according to the California Highway Patrol.The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident, which left the two-lane roadway blocked into the early evening, the CHP reported.The victim's name was not immediately available. 459

A white van drove onto a busy Toronto sidewalk, and struck dozens of pedestrians, killing 10 and wounding 15, Toronto Police officials said on Monday. Later in the day, police said that Alek Minassian allegedly targeted the crowd of pedestrians. Police were called to the area of Yonge Street at Finch Avenue around 1:30 p.m. local time after the van fled from the scene. Police have since shutdown the area, and blocked off several streets. Authorities later caught up to the van and its driver.Canadian news agency the CBC reported that the van's driver is in custody.Video from the incident showed several ambulances taking away victims on stretchers from the scene of the incident. Stephen Powell, district chief for Toronto Fire, said that targeted pedestrians for up to one mile. The CBC has reported that part of Toronto's subway service has been shutdown. The area is in the North York neighborhood of Toronto, which is several miles north of Downtown. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was shot and killed in an Alpine neighborhood Saturday has been identified. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Melanie Benitez, 27, was shot on the 2800 block of North Victoria Drive around 2 p.m. The department also identified the suspect in the case as Paul Paraschak, 42. Deputies say Benitez and Paraschak were dating and lived together in Alpine. An area resident heard a scream and called 911 around 2 p.m. Saturday. Deputies detained Paraschak on foot about a half mile away with two hand guns, said Lt. Akron, Ohio police are investigating after three women were found dead inside a home on Saturday night.It happened around 7:40 p.m. while officers were conducting a welfare check at a house in Akron. According to department, the officers first tried knocking on the door and when no one answered, they began looking through the windows and saw a woman on the floor. They then forced entry inside and discovered two other women.All three women were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS of suspected drug overdoses.Police aren't releasing their names at this time, but say they were 20, 20 and 21-years-old.  623

About 9% of Americans see a dentist every year but not a physician, according to the American Dental Association.“There are a lot of dental offices in more rural areas where it's harder for those people to get access to care. So, the distribution of dentists across the country is really widespread,” said Zena.People may also be more willing to accept a vaccine once they talk with a dentist they trust.On the flip side, a COVID-19 vaccine at a dentist's office could help drum up interest and new dental business.During the H1N1 pandemic, dentists in some states gave the vaccine.Some areas have also authorized dentists to give the flu shot.
