President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday that he has signed an executive order calling for stiff punishment against those who damage statues and monuments.The order comes days after protesters attempted to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson from Lafayette Park near the White House. Dozens of officers moved in to push the protesters back.In recent weeks, there have been calls from supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement to remove statues and monuments of those tied to slavery and the Confederacy. Those calls have been met with swift opposition from Trump and fellow Republican leaders.But the movement has found support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Califfornia, who has asked for 11 statues in the Capitol of Confederate leaders being removed from the complex. “We are looking at long-term jail sentences for these vandals and these hoodlums and these anarchists and agitators,” Trump said earlier this week.Trump later added in an interview with Fox News, “We should learn from the history. Raising the age of cigarette purchasing from 18 to 21 could have massive impacts on youth smoking. "This would be the number one thing I would do in New York state," Roswell Park Health Behavior Chair Dr. Andrew Hyland said. According to Hyland, if the age were to go up three years, the number of young smokers would decrease. "If you raise the age from 18 to 21 we're going to see 25% fewer kids becoming cigarette smokers" Hyland said. There would be less smokers due to the fact that 18 year old brains are still in development. RAMONA (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash today on the Barona Indian Reservation.A motorcycle was hit and ended up underneath a Ford sedan around 1:30 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road more than a mile south of Little Klondike Road, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log. The area is about halfway between Barona Resort and Casino and the community of Ramona.Passersby stopped and were able to pull the motorcyclist out from underneath the car, but the biker succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash, the CHP said.The northbound lane of the road was shut down.Identifying information on the victim was not immediately available. 659

Cindy Hyde-Smith won Mississippi's US Senate runoff election in a contest that centered on her actions and comments evoking the state's dark history of racism and slavery.Hyde-Smith defeated Democratic challenger Mike Espy, a former congressman and agriculture secretary, in the last Senate race to be decided in 2018. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Hyde-Smith beat Espy with 53.9 percent of the votes. Her win on Tuesday means Republicans will hold 53 seats to Democrats' 47 seats in the Senate in January. Reports indicate that Toys R Us could be the next retailer to file for bankruptcy.The Wall Street Journal reports that the toy retailer could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks, just a few months out from the crucial holiday season.According to the Journal, the chain's suppliers are hesitant to ship new items before putting money down. The company is facing a debt of billion stemming from a leveraged buyout in 2005.Toys R Us has already received most of its holiday shipments, but could soon be prevented from receiving any additional toys before the shopping season begins.Toys R Us is just one of a number of retailers who have struggled as Americans have started doing more of their shopping online.
