But a group of Chula Vista students has it down to a science.Rancho Del Rey Middle School's Royal Robotics team is a "well-oiled machine," as they like to put it. "It's just an amazing amount of dedication."Thanks to the completeness of their design notebook, which houses all their data, the team hopes to grab the award for best design and have a championship banner to hang at Rancho Del Rey.But the team faces one last obstacle, getting to Kentucky."It is an enormous financial obligation that I'm trying desperately to make up because the funding is basically all us," Braito said.The team has set up a GoFundMe to help with expenses and has raised almost half of their goal. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man who allegedly stabbed and seriously injured another man with a screwdriver during a San Ysidro street robbery pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, robbery and vandalism charges.Eduardo Hernandez Oliveros, 22, is accused of robbing the victim just before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard.Police said the victim was using his cell phone when Oliveros confronted him on the street and asked to use the phone. Before the victim could react, Oliveros allegedly snatched the phone out of his hand and took off.Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim alleged the victim chased Oliveros down and a "physical struggle" ensued, culminating in the defendant stabbing the victim in the face and neck with a screwdriver.Bystanders called police, who responded and arrested Oliveros, who faces more than 25 years in state prison if convicted of all charges, according to the prosecutor.The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department, which alleged that Oliveros "admitted he was trying to kill the victim."Oliveros has a prior attempted murder conviction for stomping on his girlfriend's head, stabbing her in the leg and telling her he was going to kill her, according to Shim. He was found guilty in 2015 in Riverside County, according to the criminal complaint.Bail was set at million for Oliveros, who is due back in court Oct. 14 for a readiness conference. 1503

The Holocaust survivor and war veteran, got married and turned 105-years-old. 10News Photojournalist Zach Wonderlie was there for his big day. "He's been in and out of hospitals so many times that I thought I was planning a memorial...and then I was planning a wedding!" said Norbert's daughter, Livia Gail, "It's such a miracle." Norbert escaped Nazi Germany in 1935, Gail said.Norbert married the love of his life Thursday - his girlfriend of 45 years, Edlemira Velasquez. The happy couple enjoyed the ceremony, a little cake and all of their loved ones on their milestone day. Gail left us with a few words of wisdom from her father: "Nothing too big, nothing too small. (KGTV) - Two San Diegans entered holy matrimony with a splash Friday, saying "I do" atop an Aquatica San Diego water slide — or perhaps, "I dooooooooo."Hugh Rothman and Ilene Engel met in September 2016 on an online dating website. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A South Bay postal worker has pleaded not guilty to firing pepper spray at a dog. Nestor Medina was charged with three counts of animal cruelty in connection with the encounters 10News first reported in Otay Mesa last March. “It’s heartbreaking,” Alfonso Galindo said. Galindo checked surveillance video of his home on Agosto Street. Cameras recorded a postal carrier walking up to Galindo's mailbox and past the metal front gate. Behind the gate is Pupa, and as the mail carrier places the mail in the mailbox, a cylindrical object is seen in his left hand. At the same time, from another camera, Pupa is seen behind the gate beginning to convulse for several minutes. Galindo said his children, 3-year-old Alfonso Jr. and 1-year-old Regina developed strange respiratory problems after hugging Pupa. "Countless trips to the ER and urgent care, and countless medications," said Galindo.
