(KGTV) – Two people died after being struck by an oncoming vehicle along I-8 Sunday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, a single vehicle was involved in a crash on I-8 near El Cajon Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m.Following the crash two good Samaritans stopped to help the man out of his vehicle.While the crash victim and one of the good Samaritans were talking on the side of the road, another vehicle failed to see them, striking and killing both victims, according to CHP. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing but haven’t ruled out drugs or alcohol being factors in the crash. 634
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- The District Attorney has decided against filing charges against a man who reportedly shot and killed a suspect trying to break into his work truck in El Cajon. The shooting happened on the 1100 block of Mona Place in March of 2018. Authorities say Michael Poe woke up in the early-morning hours of March 11 to the sound of glass shattering. When he went outside, he found the suspect, Joseph Mercurio, breaking into his work truck. DUNDEE, Michigan — A 39-year-old woman was charged in connection with a fraudulent dog sale scheme.Police said Vanessa Young sold twelve sick puppies to unsuspecting buyers.Most of the dogs were sold for 0. Young told the buyers the dogs were healthy and registered with the American Kennel Club. However, the buyers discovered the claims to be false and the dogs became very ill shortly after the sale – and some even died, said police. Many of the victims spent thousands of dollars in veterinary care while trying to save and treat the puppies.Dundee Police Chief Tim Garbo said Young’s arrest came after a year-long investigation.Young is charged with felony defrauding and false pretenses and could face up to 5 years in prison or a ,000 fine.She was arraigned in First District Court of Monroe on Tuesday and has been released on bond. 860

Daniel Charles Marshall, 34, was arrested and charged last week in connection with the April 25 death of 7-month-old Hailey Marshall.Paramedics responding to a medical emergency call in the 8600 block of Paseo Del Rey in Santee on April 22 found the child in medical distress, Lt. Thomas Seiver said. She was pronounced dead at a hospital three days later of injuries that included skull fractures, prosecutors said.The circumstances of the death ``warranted further investigation, resulting in the (sheriff's) child abuse unit responding,'' according toSeiver. ``As the investigation progressed, the homicide unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation.'' (KGTV) — A vehicle crashed into an East County restaurant Wednesday, before the driver fled on foot and left behind a massive mess.The vehicle careened through the Ali Baba restaurant at 421 E. Main St. before 2:30 p.m., before the driver fled the scene a short distance to park the vehicle and continued to flee on foot, according to El Cajon Police.No one in the building was injured, but photos from Thair Behnan, the manager of the restaurant, showed a massive mess of shattered glass and wall.The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, wearing a white shirt, and jeans.Anyone with information on the incident or who locates the suspect is asked to call El Cajon Police at 619-579-3311. 718
