A 13-year-old middle school student from Elkhorn, Nebraska was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of terroristic threats. According to a release, the student made non-specific threats on a national social media gaming website on Wednesday. After he was questioned Wednesday, he made similar non-specific threats again on Thursday on a different social media platform. The student was booked in the Douglas County Youth Center. Because of his age, his name was not released. Elkhorn Public Schools released a statement: "On Wednesday, law enforcement investigated an Elkhorn Valley View Middle School student regarding a nonspecific threat made on a national social media gaming website. Elkhorn Public Schools administration cooperated fully with local law enforcement throughout the investigation.  Elkhorn Public Schools takes all threats seriously, and in this situation, at no time did we feel students were in immediate danger. Parents of the student affected received an email on Wednesday afternoon, informing them of the situation." Captain Wayne Hudson with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said deputies will be patrolling schools more closely in upcoming days given the alleged threats. Hudson says law enforcement agencies across the nation are not taking any potential copycat shooting threats lightly and encourage people to report any suspicious activity. "The whole thing of, if you hear something, say something — we need that information. As we saw in Florida, it seems several kids had information," Hudson said. "They knew this individual had made certain comments and certain threats — especially kids. (KGTV) — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says voters who may be sick or in quarantine due to COVID-19 on Election Day should take steps when breaking quarantine to vote.The agency says that any COVID-19 patients who head out to vote should ear a mask, stay at least six feet away from others, wash their hands and use hand sanitizer before and after voting, and let poll workers know that they are sick when arriving at the polling location."Voters have the right to vote, regardless of whether they are sick or in quarantine. Voters who are sick or in quarantine should take steps to protect poll workers and other voters," the CDC says.The CDC also recommended that patients bring their own supplies to vote, including pens and sample ballots or registration forms.The CDC's recommendations for all voters can be read online. 850

(KGTV) - The sound of gunfire was met with fear and disbelief by students at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita Thursday. Two students died and three others were injured on campus, officials said. In the hours following the shooting on campus, the teenage survivors shared their emotional stories. “It was very scary; we ran, we heard the one shot and four after and we just started running,” said a female student. “All I heard was all these kids running and just screaming and calling their parents; it was very sad.” RELATED: Santa Clarita high school shooting: 2 killed, 3 hurt; Suspected shooter in 'grave' condition “It was like a balloon pop, super loud, and everyone started running and it was really scary,” said a boy who had been outside the school when the shooting happened. His concern was for his sister, who had arrived on campus early for choir rehearsal. She texted him that she was safe, but the shooting had happened close to her. "I'm just not gonna forget it," said a girl as her mother clutched her outside the school.Other students shared the experience of running away from campus. “So we were waiting outside of the locker room cause it wasn’t open yet, and all of a sudden we just we were with all of our friends and we heard the gunshots and we were, ‘Let’s go, let’s run.' We ran through the field, we went through the gate cause it was open and we had to go underneath the pipeline so we literally crawled underneath the pipeline. And there were construction workers and they like, helped us get through the hill and into the neighborhood, and we just kept walking until we got to the park.” Some of the children sought refuge in the first moments of the crisis with a man who lives near the school. “Coming out of my house to go get my coffee and I saw all kind of kids running up the street, screaming, crying, yelling. And it really saddened my heart, you know. And they were saying, ‘can we go in your house’ and there must have been 20 of them in my house. We just all kept running, and we were all helping each other, like ‘oh, do you have a ride, do you have a ride’ because it was just like a big group of us running through this neighborhood, trying to get away. Everybody helped each other; I was actually really surprised because I thought people would just panic and push people out of the way but everybody was helping each other. Everybody worked as a community to help each other like these kids,” said a female student.The survivors who sheltered in place at the school were evacuated on buses and reunited with their parents. 2816
