SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have released video footage after officers shot and killed a murder suspect following a standoff on May 29.The 32-year-old suspect who was shot and killed was accused of shooting and killing another man at a City Heights apartment complex.The video shows officer stationed outside the apartment complex. Watch the full video below:According to police, gunfire was reported at the complex on the 3800 block of Euclid Avenue around 3:30 p.m.Officers later found a 62-year-old Hispanic man with at least one gunshot wound. Three officers fired their weapons at the suspect, striking him several times," a San Diego Police Department statement said. "Specially trained STAR medics deployed with the SWAT team to provide aid, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. A firearm and a knife were recovered."Earlier in the week, the suspect’s mother reportedly contacted police after he threatened her with a firearm.Police say the women told investigators her son wanted to be involved in a shooting with police and to commit “suicide by cop.” 1700

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego International Airport is reporting an increase in travelers as coronavirus restrictions continue to lift.New numbers from the San Diego Airport Authority showed that from June 18 to 21, an average of 8,679 daily travelers went through the TSA Checkpoint. That's a drop off of 80 percent from the same time last year. However, during the height of the coronavirus restrictions in April, the drop off was as much as 95 percent compared to the same time in 2019. "From what we are seeing and based on our conversations with airlines, leisure travel is coming back faster than business travel, and this is consistent with nationwide trends and reports," said Airport Authority spokeswoman Sabrina LoPiccolo. LoPiccolo says the airport has taken numerous steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including plexiglass sneeze guards in some areas, increased cleaning and floor markers to encourage social distancing. The large drop off in travel has taken a toll on businesses that depend on travelers to survive.Across the runway at Park, Shuttle, and Fly, owner Al Cruz says the lack of air travel forced his family to temporarily lay off the lots 15 workers."We were very scared," Cruz said. "We moved real quick, we have to survive. We're family-owned and we're not a big corporation. We don't have a lot of money to sustain us.During the height of the shutdown, Cruz rented hundreds of spots to a rental car company to store excess cars, but it was a revenue cut. In June, he received a Paycheck Protection Program loan and reopened, hiring back the 15 workers. There are now about 45 cars owned by travelers in the lot. Cruz said he needs the trend of increased flying to continue to make it. "If it does not, it flattens out like it was three months ago, we can't survive on that," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Rep. Duncan Hunter's opponent, Ammar Campa-Najjar, spoke out Tuesday about the indictment against the congressman. “Now is the time to put country over party,” Campa said in a brief video posted on YouTube. Campa continued by adding that Hunter "is in it for himself." In the June Primary, Hunter finished with 49 percent of the vote with Campa gaining 16 percent. Political Consultant Laura Fink told 10News Tuesday night that a more recent generic ballot showed the to candidates "neck-and-neck." Fink added “It got close before this indictment. With Republicans having less energy in their turnout, it gives Campa-Najjar a real shot at this.” 1835

Am atmospheric river is set to bring downpours to the county Monday through Thursday, the National Weather Service says. County officials say it’s important to be prepared because topsoil, mud, plant material, and debris can clog culverts and storm drains and damage roadways.
