SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — SeaWorld San Diego is reintroducing its popular annual SoCal Pass as the park prepares to offer new attractions for guests.The SoCal Pass, also known as the "Silver Annual Pass," is available for 1.99, or .24 a month with a down payment, the park says, and contains hundreds of dollars in benefits. The deal is only good online. Pass holders can access the park throughout the year and get free parking, two guest tickets for promotional events, discounts on dining and shopping, and do not have to worry about any blackout dates.RELATED: SeaWorld welcomes new flamingo chicks to the 'flamboyance'The park announced Wednesday it will also extend free admissions for military veterans through July 15, giving veterans and up to three guests free admission.SeaWorld's SoCal Pass comes back just as the park introduces its Tidal Twister roller coaster and updated Journey to Atlantis attraction. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several birds were rescued from a San Diego apartment after a downstairs unit caught fire.According to crews, the fire started around 10:45 a.m. Sunday at an apartment on the 1700 block of Oro Vista Road.Shortly after noticing smoke, residents at the complex grabbed every fire extinguisher they could get their hands on in an effort to extinguish the flames and keep the blaze from spreading to the second floor.Firefighters say no one was home at the time of the fire and several birds were rescued. 529

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say a man has died after an officer-involved shooting in the City Heights area on Thursday.SDPD officers responded to reports of a man with a gun in the 4200 block of Menlo Ave. at about 4 p.m., according to SDPD Lt. Matt Dobbs.Police say two women were driving in the area when they were confronted by a man with a handgun."The man manipulated the slide of the gun as if he were loading it and pointed the gun towards the women," according to a SDPD news release. The women drove away and then called 911.Officers arrived to find the man and demanded he drop the gun. 612

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Since March, a UC San Diego health care professional said fake products promoted to cure or prevent COVID-19 have surged. Amid the rollout of coronavirus shots, their focus is now to prevent people from buying vaccines advertised as the real thing.Dr. Timothy Mackey, an associate professor of Anesthesiology and Global Public Health at UC San Diego, said scammers are taking advantage of consumers seeking COVID-19 vaccines because there's a need, but not enough supply."We first saw herbal and nutritional supplements because people were trying to avoid the disease, then a bunch of testing kits we saw when people didn't have access to testing kits,” said Mackey.And now, he said people browsing the web will see advertisements promoting fake COVID-19 vaccines."You cannot get any vaccine on the internet. If you're seeing a post that says you can buy it right away, it's not the real vaccine,” said Mackey.He said falling into a trap could cause serious harm to yourself and others."Middle ground you get sterilized water, and it doesn't work. Then, you go out and risk transmission to others,” Mackey said.Secondly, he said you'd get ripped off and risk having your credit card information and identity stolen. And third, "You get a product that's spoiled or a needle not sterile, and you get another disease or something that's toxic for your body."Mackey said the bottom line is the vaccine will not be available online anytime soon."The vaccine will only be available in registered healthcare facilities and only a few that are specifically validated to distribute the vaccine.
