SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver they say struck and killed a pedestrian in Mission Hills Thursday before fleeing the scene.According to police, the 57-year-old man was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street on the 1300 block of West Washington Avenue just after midnight. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Based on their investigation, police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2001-2002 Hyundai Sonata with damage to the headlamps or windshield.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division at 858-495-7805 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime stoppers is offering up to a ,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. 758
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New information from the Census Bureau shows that San Diego’s housing growth isn’t keeping up with our growth in population.Within the year spanning between July 1, 2016, and July 1, 2017, San Diego saw its population increase by nearly 13,000 people.According to the Census Bureau, though the population has increased, the number of new homes being built is actually slowing down.When you compare housing growth between 2000 and 2007 and housing growth between 2010 and 2017, San Diego County saw a major decrease in growth of new housing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 140 items stolen from an auto crime spree in San Diego have been recovered and now, authorities are trying to track down their owners.Malcolm Brown, 22, and Alexis Carr, 25, were arrested in connection with the crime spree. Brown has pleaded guilty to vehicle theft and residential burglary, while Carr has pleaded guilty to auto theft and burglary.The two were located after Chula Vista Police found a stolen vehicle at a motel parking lot. "They're they're they're stuck with being taken advantage of by vulture investors."May's company works with the homeowners on a renovation plan and then covers the costs.Homeowners pay the company back when the house sells, along with financing and administrative fees."There are 10s of thousands of properties out there that need work, that are deferred maintenance or just dated," says May. "If people had to sell them as is, they would be leaving 10s of thousands of dollars on the table."May says his company can typically increase a home's value by an average of 5,000.That's what happened with owner Bill Stutzer. After his wife passed away, he wanted to sell his 5-bedroom home as is, listing for around 0,000.But a smaller house across the street sold for nearly 5,000 after some renovations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One of San Diego's most famous malls is poised for a multi-million dollar renovation. On Wednesday, Fashion Valley will announce a project to add what it describes as inviting public spaces, enriched landscaping, broader dining and gathering places, tranquil outdoor lounges and water features, and increased personal shopping and valet services. It's the mall's biggest project since it added a second story in the mid-1990s. Vicki Hanor, a senior vice president with Simon Malls, said in a statement Fashion Valley is home to more than 50 retailers exclusive to San Diego, and prides itself on providing the ultimate shopping and dining experience.
