LOS ANGELES (AP) — Thousands of volunteers knocked on doors and dialed phones Monday while candidates across California made their final arguments to voters in an election where Democrats look to keep their stranglehold on state offices and add to their advantage in the 53-seat congressional delegation.Polls will be open statewide from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and early voters must have their ballots postmarked by Tuesday to have them counted. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 810

LOS ANGELES — Prosecutors say two men and two teens have been charged in the death of rising rapper Pop Smoke, who was killed during a Los Angeles home-invasion robbery in February. Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a statement Monday that Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers were charged with murder that occurred during the commission of a robbery and burglary. The two male teens were also charged with murder and robbery in juvenile court. Their names were not released.The 20-year-old New York rapper, whose legal name is Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed Feb. 19 at a home in the Hollywood Hills. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Four people were wounded, one fatally, when gunfire erupted Tuesday morning at a large party taking place at a mansion north of Beverly Hills where police had earlier responded to multiple calls of disturbing the peace.Firefighters and paramedics sent to the 13200 block of Mulholland Drive about 12:45 a.m. located three adults who had been wounded, and they were treated at the scene, then taken to a hospital, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department. A fourth person was found nearby with an injury to his wrist, Prange said, adding the victim's injury was not caused by gunfire.One shooting victim was hospitalized in grave condition and the other two were hospitalized in critical condition, Prange said.A woman about 35 years of age died at a hospital, said Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Chris Ramirez. Information was not immediately available on her identity.Ramirez said the other two shooting victims found at the scene were males, and they were displaying stable vital signs Tuesday morning.A woman who also had been shot went to a hospital in a private vehicle, and was in stable condition, Ramirez said.Ramirez said the crime apparently was gang-related, and no arrests have been reported. No suspect information was immediately available.Ramirez said the shooting was being investigated by detectives from the LAPD West Bureau Homicide office, and he urged anyone with information on the crime to call 213-382-9470.The house had been rented for the party, according to reports from the scene.A video posted to social media captured the sounds of the gunfire, at least six shots initially fired, followed by at least eight more. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and his wife confronted a home intruder who attempted to kidnap their grandchild over the weekend in California.According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Montana told deputies that his 9-month-old grandchild was sleeping in a playpen Saturday when an unknown woman entered their home in Malibu and grabbed the child.Montana and his wife, Jennifer, confronted the woman and asked her to give back their grandchild.After a tussle, law enforcement officials say Jennifer Montana pried the baby out of the woman's arms.The sheriff’s office says the woman, whom authorities identified as Sodsai Dalzell, fled the home but was later arrested.
