This natural weather phenomenon is the warming of equatorial Pacific that triggers weather extremes across the globe.Since the 1970s, scientists have found El Ninos are forming farther to the west in warmer waters.Researchers led by the University of Hawaii say this leads to some stronger El Ninos.This is important because El Nino —especially strong ones — can trigger drought in some places, like Australia and India. VISTA (CNS and KGTV) - Prosecutors announced Friday they will seek a second trial against ex-NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II, who was convicted of forcible rape and misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and lewd conduct earlier this week. Following about a week of deliberations, a Vista jury found Winslow guilty of raping a woman in Encinitas and exposing himself to two others, but deadlocked on eight other charges, including rape and kidnapping in connection with two other women. Jurors indicated that they were leaning toward guilty verdicts on each count, but were unable to reach a consensus, leading San Diego Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman to declare a mistrial as to those counts Tuesday morning, and dismiss the jury. Prosecutors stated they will go forward with trying Winslow a second time. A judge set the trial date for Sept. 30 and denied bail, saying Winslow was a danger to the community.Winslow was convicted of last May's rape of a 58-year-old homeless woman -- Jane Doe 2 -- exposing himself to Jane Doe 3, who was gardening in her front yard in Cardiff last May, and touching himself in front of a 77-year-old woman -- Jane Doe 5 -- at a Carlsbad gym in February. (KGTV) -- An Escondido woman accused in a vehicle crash that killed four people, including two children, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to all charges levied against her.Ashley Rene Williams pleaded not guilty to four counts of murder and four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated during her initial court appearance, which was via video conference.The 28-year-old’s bail was set at million.According to Escondido police, just before 8:30 p.m. on May 5, Williams was driving northbound near Oak Hill Drive and San Pasqual Valley Road when she struck two adults and two children walking in the area.Abel Valdez, 33, and 11-year-old Emmanuel Riva died at the scene. Ten-year-old Yovanny Felix and 50-year-old Carmela Camacho were rushed to the hospital, where they later passed away.The boys were brothers, and Camacho was their grandmother. Valdez was Camacho’s boyfriend, according to a GoFundMe established for the family.Williams was taken to the hospital after also suffering injuries.Following an investigation that involved the analysis of evidence that included cellphone and vehicle computer data, lab test results, and roadway measurements, Williams was arrested at her home on June 4.Prosecutors said Williams was under the influence of drugs and using her cellphone at the time of the collision.10News learned Williams’ driver’s license was already suspended as of Feb. 18, 2020, due to a drug-related offense.
