After threatening to shut off city utilities to homes in Los Angeles violating coronavirus pandemic public health orders, the mayor has taken action twice so far. The home is in the Cahuenga Pass area, near Hollywood Hills.https://twitter.com/MayorOfLA/status/1300905954666360832Los Angeles police responded to the home on August 24 after reports of a large gathering, according to the LA Times, and officers posted warnings on the property. The house hosted another large gathering on Sunday. The mayor then authorized services shut off.On August 5, Mayor Garcetti said he would authorize crews to shut off city water and power to homes that violated city rules limiting gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic. The first home to have their utility service disconnected was on August 19 in the Hollywood Hills area. In a tweet, the mayor said the action was taken “to stop the large parties held there in flagrant violation of our public health orders.”https://twitter.com/MayorOfLA/status/1296203922911027200The rental home was reportedly being used by Tik Tok stars Bryce Hall and Blake Gray, who are now facing charges. When he announced the misdemeanor charges, City Attorney Mike Feuer said he is not aware of any COVID-19 cases at the time that have been linked to their parties.Police have left warning notices at another home after a large party this week, according to KTLA.Garcetti and city officials are warning people to be safe and stay distant over Labor Day weekend.“Gatherings — parties, cook-outs and the other activities we usually do with non-household members on holidays — can easily lead to increases in transmission, hospitalizations and deaths,” L.A. All most people wanted for Christmas after this year of pandemic uncertainty, and sadness was some cheer and togetherness.Instead, many are heading into a season of isolation, grieving lost loved ones, worried about their jobs, or confronting the fear of a potentially more contagious variant of the coronavirus.Residents of London can't see people outside their households.Peruvians won't be allowed to drive their cars over Christmas and New Year to discourage visits.South Africans won't be able to go to the beach over Christmas.According to the Associated Press, when it comes to eating on Christmas, officials in France recommend eating with no more than six people. In Chile, it's 15, and in Brazil, it's as many as you want. The patchwork of restrictions imposed by local and national governments across the world varies widely — but few holiday seasons will look normal this year.Although there aren't travel restrictions in the U.S., the CDC has urged people not to travel. AAA projects that as many as 84.5 million Americans might travel during the week of Christmas up to Jan. 3.With Christmas just days away, some states require visitors to quarantine or test negative before visiting their states.Suppose you travel to Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, or Rhode Island. In that case, you have the option of presenting a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before entering the state or quarantine. If visiting California, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, or Wisconsin, you are requested or required to self-quarantine for up to 14 days upon arriving. The CDC recommends celebrating virtually or with your household members, which is considered the lowest risk of spreading COVID-19. 1875

ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) — An East County dog owner is crediting a pet psychic for reuniting her with her missing, injured dog.7-year-old Bonnie bolted out of the front door of Missy Benker's home after the door was left open late Tuesday night. "Definitely a desperate feeling," said Benker. The Dachshund mix and another dog, Holly, escaped the home together. An extensive search of Benker's 20-acre ranch turned up nothing. Holly appeared early Wednesday morning.RELATED: Escondido City Council to decide fate of pet alpacas"The way she was acting, it was like she had been through something traumatic," said Benker.Frantic, Benker called on pet psychic Jennifer Harmel, who asked for a photo of Bonnie. She says that helped her tap into Bonnie's energy."I could see what she was seeing, because she was sending me pictures of what she saw around her," said Harmel.Benker says Harmel zeroed in on a field just beyond her ranch, near some trees and large rocks. Harmel told her the dog had been attacked with injuries on the left side of her face and right side of her body. She added that Bonnie was scared and hiding. RELATED: New ADA access ramp at Dog Beach sparks controversyAnother search turned up nothing. Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Harmel sensed Bonnie was about to limp home."I saw her get up and move. She said, 'I'm going home,'" said Harmel. That's when Benker decided to open a particular gate on the property, closest to the search area. About 20 minutes later, something remarkable happened. Benker says doggie prints showed Bonnie had walked straight past the gate and onto the back patio. RELATED: Why more employers are offering discounted veterinary care"Relief was the biggest thing. Beyond happy to see her," said Benker. The injured Bonnie had bite marks, likely from a coyote, on the left side of her face and right side of her body — just as Harmel said."No way she could have known these things ... She has a gift ... I have Jennifer to thank for getting Bonnie back," said Benker.Bonnie came home bleeding and exhausted, but should make a full recovery. 2082

About 40,000 workers in the airline industry are facing layoffs on Thursday unless Congress comes up with another aid package. Many are worried about how they'll pay for rents, mortgages and food, or for health insurance. A clause in the billion aid package to airlines at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic prevented them from laying off workers. But that clause expires on Thursday. Some workers are holding out hope that another agreement can still be reached. Congress has been considering a second round of airline aid for weeks, but it’s hung up in the debate over a larger national relief package. 623
