SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local organization is raising money for a good Samaritan that died in February in Pine Valley. Sunday, the It's All About the Kids Foundation hosted the "Be Like Bob" art show to raise money for a scholarship in Bob Bruno's honor. Bruno died in February when he stopped to help a driver on the I-8 in Pine Valley. While helping, there was another accident and to avoid being hit, Bruno jumped over the side of the guardrail, falling into the canyon below. "I think he would be really honored to know that we were memorializing him this way," said Gwendolyn Sneed, Bruno's long-time partner. Sneed tells 10News Bruno had been supporting the charity for over 15 years. If you'd like to donate click here. 916

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A police pursuit involving a man who failed to yield that started in the Los Angeles area took authorities all the way to San Diego Thursday. The suspect, later identified as Karl Flores, 34, was driving a red Honda Civic when he failed to yield on Washington Boulevard at about 11 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol. The man had first been reported as a stolen vehicle suspect, but police eventually said that was not the case.Flores then took police on a pursuit through the Los Angeles area, at one point hitting a pedestrian riding a scooter. The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.WATCH THE PURSUIT LIVE:Flores continued into the Inglewood area before avoiding a PIT maneuver by police that sent the Honda spinning, KABC reported. He continued fleeing police, avoided more PIT maneuver attempts, and drove from southbound Interstate 405 to Interstate 5 into San Diego. The vehicle stopped on I-5 near Las Pulgas Rd. at about 1:30 p.m., prompting a police standoff and Sig Alert was issued for both directions of I-5 at Las Pulgas Rd. CHP said it appeared the vehicle had run out of gas. Officers were able to drag the man from the vehicle with the help of a K9 officer just after 2 p.m. CHP said the man would be taken into custody following treatment at a nearby hospital.Traffic on SB I-5 backed up for miles during the standoff, eventually reopening at about 2:30 p.m.WATCH THE CHP'S PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE CHASE: 1493

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A La Jolla homeowner is facing millions of dollars in damage to his property after massive amounts of water flooded into his house Tuesday.Didier Jantz, the general contractor for the homeowner, said the owner wasn’t home when the water began flooding in. Crews doing work on the home on Encelia Drive noticed the water start coming in around 3 p.m.Crews say the water came from a neighborhood property, though it's unclear what ruptured and released the water. The city told 10News they sent a crew to turn off the water at a residence due to some type of leak, though it's unclear where the leak was and what caused it.“There are Asian Persian rugs everywhere, there’s a lot of personal damage, we got water in the walls, we got water in the ceilings, we got water coming through the ceiling lights,” Jantz said. 842

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local police expert thinks the recent surge in gun violence in southeastern San Diego is the work of gangs. Kevin LaChapelle is a former El Cajon police officer who investigated gang crimes, now working as an expert in gang intervention. LaChapelle thinks San Diego police will solve these crimes rather quickly.ORIGINAL STORY: Downtown San Diego: 5 people shot in shootings near Petco Park"As they gather evidence, they're going to start debriefing with each other and talking about similarities, things that the witnesses said, and really getting information that is similar to one another," said LaChapelle. He says it's too hard to pinpoint a reason for these shootings but says the suspects targeting people at random leads him to believe it's gang-related. "This leads me to believe that there's something going on within the gang itself, whether it's initiation or it could also just be the gangs flexing their muscle," said LaChapelle.RELATED: 1011

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego donut shop owner is defending a homeless man who spends time outside his eatery.Nomad Donuts, 3102 University Ave., received a one-star review on Yelp complaining about the presence of the man known as "Ray."Brad Keiller responded to the review in part by saying: "I understand how you feel, it's not easy to look at. I know I probably lose some business, possibly yours too, because of my choice not to chase him away but I won't. He's not looking for handouts and he tries not to bother anyone. If you stop and talk with him maybe you'll come to like him too."That was last weekend, and since then the post has gone viral.RELATED COVERAGE:Some embarrassed by homelessness in Ocean Beach during bodyboarding festivalFacing It Together: San Diego college students cope with homelessnessHomeless heroes help Ocean Beach theft victim track down her bikeInstead of hurting business, it's done the opposite, drawing in more customers than ever. But perhaps more importantly the response reminded Ray that not everyone wants him gone."I'm flattered overwhelmed by his kindness. Wow, someone stood up for me cause I don't get that a lot," he said. 1181
