SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Monday afternoon after police say she stole a vehicle with two children inside.Police say Rodney Cole left his 3-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in his car with the engine and air conditioner running around noon on the 200 block of Euclid Avenue.After he went into a business, a witness reported seeing a woman, later identified as Leslie Saenz, get into the car and drive away with the children inside.Monday night Cole explained the terrifying ordeal to 10News.His 8-year-old daughter, Malaiha, told police she was able to call the police and tell dispatchers that she and her brother Jackson had been kidnapped. "They said, '911 whats your emergency?' and I said, 'me and my little brother got kidnapped,'" Malaiha said. "and (police) said, 'where are you and what can you see?' and I said, 'signs for the Mexico border.'""(The woman) tried to take the phone away from me but I moved away from her, and she said, 'give it to me, or I’m going to drive in circles and take this car and crash into the freeway wall.'"That's when she gave the phone to the woman, but the police acted quickly.  Roughly 30 minutes later after the car was stolen, Border Patrol detained the woman as she was trying to cross the border into Mexico.  Police have since taken Saenz into custody.Cole told 10News he bought the phone for the kids a few months ago, but it's not an activated line. He taught Malaiha how to call 911 on the phone, in case of emergencies. "I'm very proud of her," he said. 1616

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Someone sliced through the window of an Ocean Beach resident's vehicle but thankfully couldn't get it to start.Now he's worried about who they might hit next. "So we look out for each other so the idea that someone would come overnight steps from where I sleep, steps from where my kids sleep, you know and try to steal your car, it's angering," David Levine said.An anger that probably won't go away until Levine gets the window on his jeep fixed. "I put tape over it already but there are two big slices here and then a slice here," Levine said.Someone sliced into his 1999 Jeep Wrangler, but Levine knows it could've been much worse."There's bent metal. It looks like they tried to take a screwdriver to turn it over," Levine said. "So I got lucky." Levine is lucky because he still has his Jeep. His neighbor doesn't.  904

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - USD head men’s basketball coach Lamont Smith is free Wednesday pending an investigation on domestic violence charges in San Francisco.The San Francisco Police Department released Smith's mugshot from Sunday's arrest. Smith was taken into custody at the Oakland airport just before the team was set to fly home from a game.Smith is accused of three domestic violence charges involving a woman at the team's hotel late Saturday night. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- With indoor dining shutdown, local restaurants are relying on takeout orders to stay afloat.Curbside pick-up, with a holiday flair, has been the specialty of the house at Parc Bistro and Brasserie in Bankers Hill. The service has also helped the eatery stay alive. In true holiday spirit, customers will see Santa and his Christmas elves deliver their food right to their car."If we could just dress up a little bit, and feel good about it, we can spread that positive energy in these tough times," says restaurant general manager Samantha Scholl.Scholl calls the last nine months devastating and an emotional roller coaster. She had to layoff close to 30 of her staff since March "We've had to pivot and change, and then we had to shut down and re-open. But we are grateful because we've had such strong support from our community," said Scholl.And since there is no dining in, Parc Bistro is offering curbside holiday packages, of which they have sold out all 250."The community has been behind us since the beginning and especially this last year which has been incredibly tough," Scholl says.The community has been behind Parc Bistro, and Scholl has been behind her staff. "I did another holiday relief fund through GoFundMe. My goal is to raise ,000 and I'm at about ,000 right now. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Windmill Farms Community Market in Del Cerro is asking for the public's help locating their stolen trailer.The family-owned grocery store has been serving San Diego since 2003 with a mission to provide healthy, organic foods at affordable prices. Surveillance video from the early morning hours on Sunday captures a white SUV with black rims circling the market. At around 4:30 a.m. the SUV hauls off the trailer. “Just unbelievable," said Michael Villegas, produce manager and buyer. “That trailer was a big part of our business; everything we had for our events was in that trailer."Villegas is also in charge of the store's community events, like bringing food to the Lake Murray 4th of July Fireworks and bringing fresh produce to schools. “Schools depend on us to do the events, if we have to start over it’s going to be tough," said Villegas.The trailer held all their tents, tarps, tables, and BBQ's.Villegas estimates the loss at around ,000. “I just hope we can get it back, you know, that would be awesome if we could get it back, if anybody seen anything give us a call," said Villegas. A spokesperson for San Diego Police says a report was filed and a detective should get the case in a few days.
