(KGTV) -- An Army veteran sprang into action when he witnessed a man attacking another man at an Oceanside transit station.Oceanside police said the incident happened Tuesday at around 9:30 a.m. on the Amtrak platform at the transit station on 195 S Tremont St.Police said Craig Chaviez allegedly attacked and stabbed a 30-year-old man. When another man -- identified as 40-year-old Andrew Reinicke, tried to intervene, police alleged Chaviez punched him in the ribs and stabbed him in the head area.Reinicke was ready to take a train to culinary school in Pasadena when the incident occurred. He comes at me again, throws me to the ground and tries to stab me as often as he can. (KGTV) – A two-vehicle collision on an Oceanside street sent 10 people to the hospital late Sunday night.Oceanside police said the crash occurred at around 11:45 p.m. on state Route 76 at Douglas Drive.According to police, a silver sedan ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck with a family inside. The impact caused the truck to flip onto its side.A man, a pregnant woman and two children were trapped in the truck, while six people in the sedan were also trapped.It took emergency crews about 30 minutes to free the trapped people from both vehicles.The 10 people were taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries. Fire personnel said at least six of the victims had “critical” injuries.The crash is under investigation, and police are trying to determine if the driver of the silver sedan was under the influence at the time of the collision. 887
