(KGTV) – A Chula Vista family came home to their house completely ransacked by burglars.“It was a total mess,” homeowner Eric Deas said. “It was like a hurricane came into my house.”Deas says he left for his aunt's house around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When he got back around 3 p.m. he found that someone had tried to get into his backdoor, then smashed a window to get in.The thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics. But they also raided his fridge, drank his alcohol, and ate his food. They trashed his house, dousing his floors and furniture with booze.  Deas even found feces in the upstairs bathroom. "They didn't flush," he said.He also found a shoe in his aquarium.  About ten of his prized fish were dead.  He thinks the thieves dumped wine in the fish tank.“It looked like they had a good time,” he said.  “They had a party in my house. Unfortunately, it was a 'damage party.'”A neighbor’s security camera caught a white BMW park in the neighborhood. Then it appears of group of teens got out of the car and started walking towards Deas' house. The video was taken in the same time frame of the break-in. It was hard to make out faces or a license plate, but Deas thinks its video of the party bandits.The intruders also took something very sentimental from him.“My mom wrote me these handwritten notes. She passed away two years ago,” Deas said, “Things that sad, 'love you, ma.' It was personal.”Deas doesn't think he will get them back.“I call them punks; they don’t deserve to be people. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista man is recovering after a painful encounter with a rattlesnake sent him to a hospital for several days.It happened in a quiet Eastlake neighborhood near a canyon. A week ago, along White Pine Ct., just before. 9 p.m., Lino Ayon was visiting a neighbor, inside a garage, when the neighbor pressed the remote. The door went up."As I stepped out, I felt like a pinch in my ankle area. Then I heard a rattle and by the time I said, 'Oh, that's a snake,' it bit me again," said Ayon.His neighbor tracked it down and killed it: a 3-and-a-half-foot rattlesnake. Meanwhile, Ayon quickly started feel the effects of the bites."My body started getting numb, my face and my chin," said Ayon.His left ankle -- where he had been bitten twice -- started to swell with pain. His speech was slurred."In my mind I knew what I wanted to say, but it wasn't coming out right," said Ayon.He was brought to the ER, eventually receiving two doses of antivenin. He was released from the hospital two days later."Very scary, never in a million years did I think I was going to be bitten by a snake," said Ayon.While rattlesnake bites for humans are fairly rare, experts say be on the lookout this time of year. It's birthing season, so there are more rattlers slithering about.Local snake wrangler Tom Mingha tells ABC 10News when the temperatures heat up, rattlesnakes become active at night, when it's cooler.That is when Ayon had his encounter. (CNS) - A former part-time Coronado High School basketball coach who engaged in sex acts with a 17-year-old female student was sentenced Tuesday to three years of probation, and may face sex offender registration if he violates his probationary terms.Jordan Tyler Bucklew, 34, was arrested and charged earlier this year after the Coronado Police Department received a report regarding "an inappropriate relationship" between a part-time coach and a teenage student.Bucklew was arrested three days later.According to the original criminal complaint, the incidents took place between December 2019 and January 2020.Bucklew was sentenced Tuesday afternoon following his guilty plea to a felony count of unlawful sex with a minor.RELATED STORIES:Basketball coach pleads guilty to sex charge involving studentCoach arrested for "inappropriate relationship" with student, police saySan Diego Superior Court Judge Michael Popkins declined to impose sex offender registration at the sentencing hearing, but left the option open should Bucklew violate the terms of his probation.Bucklew was also ordered to serve one year in custody, which Popkins said could be served in the County Parole and Alternative Custody electronic monitoring program, if he's eligible for the program.Another court hearing was set for early March, at which time other custody options will be explored, should he not be accepted into the program.Other probationary terms include no association or contact with minors.Deputy District Attorney Jalyn Wang read a letter from Jane Doe, who the prosecutor said did not wish to appear at Bucklew's sentencing hearing.The victim wrote that she's been in therapy on a weekly basis for the trauma she suffered, with no end in sight to the lingering feelings of guilt."Every day I find a new way to blame myself for what happened," Jane Doe wrote. "These feelings bring me to believe that I do not deserve anything, that I do not matter, that I am a constant burden to the world."Wang and the victim's parents urged the judge to impose lifetime sex offender registration due to a variety of factors, including the significant age difference and Bucklew's position of authority in the relationship as a school employee.Wang said Bucklew groomed the victim and maintained his relationship with Jane Doe in a secretive manner, indicating he was aware it was inappropriate. Wang said that upon his arrest, Bucklew directed the girl to delete messages sent between them.Wang said Jane Doe leaned on Bucklew for emotional support amid various issues going on in her life, which Bucklew took advantage of to initiate the physical component of the relationship.Bucklew addressed the court and said he was "extremely apologetic" to Jane Doe and her family.He said he's always tried to make himself available as a friend or coach for people to talk to, as happened with Jane Doe."I see now and I acknowledge my actions were unlawful and where I should have drawn the line, I didn't," Bucklew said. "I'm sincerely sorry."I never intended to put Jane Doe or anyone else in a position where their safety, security or welfare was threatened in any way whatsoever. I'm so sorry for everything that's happened."Through tears, Bucklew told the court, "I'm not a predator. I'm not a threat to the community. (KGTV) — Chula Vista's annual Starlight Parade and Children's Faire set for this holiday season is being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.While the event is months away, organizers have pulled the plug on this December's event. Instead, the parade will be postponed until Dec. 4, 2021."We are sorry to announce that the Chula Vista Starlight Parade will be postponed until December 2021. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis and after careful consideration of current local and state mandates, we have made this difficult decision," organizers wrote on Facebook. "The safety of our residents, participants, vendors, and employees is most important at this time.
