SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in favor of providing employers the option to opt out of providing free birth control to their staff, based on religious beliefs.The 7-2 vote was polarizing."It's a huge win for religion," Pastor Andy Ballon said."We are extremely disappointed," Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California’s President/CEO, Jodi Hicks said.Pastor Ballon said the vote is a victory because it allows people of faith the freedom to not do something they don't believe in. "We believe that life starts at conception, so we believe we should have the right to chose to not provide or not pay for these contraceptives."Ballon said women have options to access birth control outside their healthcare plan provided through work.One of those options is Planned Parenthood."We know what [the vote] means. It will have a devastating effect on women trying to plan how they want to live their lives quite frankly," Hicks said.She explained those plans could involve pursuing higher education or a career.Hicks said 5.5 million women in California could have to pay if their employers opt out. Hicks said that leaves minorities much more vulnerable, saying many can't afford birth control."We are planning on campaigning to encourage those companies still cover access to birth control for women," she said.Pastor Ballon said it's not a fight against women. "Women play an important role in my life and it's not about taking anybody's rights. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Valley Fire continued to burn overnight in East County as evacuations remain in place.So far, the blaze has scorched 17,345 acres and is 3% contained, as of 6:20 p.m. on Monday. Authorities with the Cleveland National Forest tweeted Monday that the fire had only grown by 408 acres overnight.Monday morning, Cal Fire said new evacuation orders were in place for the areas of Corral Canyon off-road area, Bobcat Meadows, and Los Pinos.Evacuation orders have also been issued for Barrett Lake Dam, while evacuation warnings have been issued for Lake Marina, Dulzura, Dog Patch, Potrero, Campo, Honey Springs, Barrett Junction, Dearhorn Valley, Corte Madera, Pine Valley, and the area from Lyons/Japatul Valley Rd. to the 8 Freeway.Evacuation centers have been set up at Steele Canyon High School at 2440 Campo Road and Joan MacQueen Middle School at 2001 Tavern Road.Cal Fire said Sunday night that 11 habitable structures and 25 outbuildings have so far been destroyed in the fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The vision of SDSU's future home field is coming into focus after brand new renderings were unveiled Saturday at Aztec Football Fan Fest.This comes after a November ballot measure to redevelop the SDCCU Stadium site with a professional soccer stadium. It was handily rejected by voters, who favored a competing plan that will include a new stadium for San Diego State University football."We have designed a stadium that works for Aztec football, but it's going to work for soccer, it's going to work for concerts, the concourse was developed in a way that it's going to be able to be used 365 days a year," Athletics Director John David Wicker said.READ RELATED: Sources: SDSU meets with Major League SoccerWhen students saw the new plan, they were ecstatic, "that's so awesome! SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Rock ’n’ Roll marathon returns to San Diego in June, bringing hundreds of athletes and music to city streets. The 5K event is scheduled for Saturday June 1, while the half-marathon and marathon will be held Sunday, June 2. Entry fees are , 2, and 2 respectively. The marathon course starts on Sixth Avenue near Balboa Park. It extends as far east as Kensington, and north to Mission Bay Park, with a finish in Little Italy. Runners can enjoy the sounds of bands along the course, and support from San Diego cheerleading groups. For those who don’t want to run, the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Health and Fitness Expo will take place Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1 at the San Diego Convention Center.
