The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) identified Rusten Sheskey as the officer who shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday.The DCI, which provided its first update on the case late Wednesday, nearly 72 hours after the shooting, said its continuing its investigation, but is not pressing charges as of now.The shooting has prompted massive unrest in Kenosha since. Blake, age 29. Law enforcement deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, however the taser was not successful in stopping Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door, and leaned forward. While holding onto Mr. Blake’s shirt, Officer Rusten Sheskey fired his service weapon seven times. Officer Sheskey fired the weapon into Mr. Blake’s back. No other officer fired their weapon. Kenosha Police Department does not have body cameras, therefore the officers were not wearing body cameras.”Officials also said that Blake told officers he had a knife. The DCI said that officials later found a knife on the driver's side floor of the car.The only videos of the incident were take bystanders that showed Blake opening his car door before he was shot at a close distance by Sheskey.Blake’s family said on Tuesday that the 29-year-old is partially paralyzed, but was fortunate to survive from his injuries. 2048

The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced Tuesday that they had to cancel its annual rivalry game against the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes due to a COVID-19 outbreak within its football program.In a press release, the athletic department said the decision to cancel was made after discussions with medical experts, health department officials, and university administration."The number of positive tests has continued to trend in an upward direction over the last seven days," said Warde Manuel, U-M's Donald R. The romaine lettuce outbreak has many consumers thinking about where their crops are grown.One rooftop greenhouse company in Chicago says their lettuce is safer and longer-lasting.Jenn Frymark, the chief agriculture officer and manager of Gotham Greens, pulls out a head of lettuce and immediately starts to eat it."No, you don't need to wash it,” Frymark says. “We don't have that on our package, but there's no reason for me to wash it. I never wash any of our lettuce at home. It's amazing; nothing touches it; it’s so clean.”Here at Gotham Greens, lettuce is grown differently.  They do it hydroponically. That means it’s grown without soil, but in a nutrient-rich water. Instead of a traditional farm field, this lettuce is grown on rooftop greenhouses.Their space on Chicago's south side is the largest rooftop greenhouse in the country.  Because of the controlled environment, crops can grow in a third of the time of a traditional field.“We're giving this plant everything it wants: the right day temp, the right night temp, the nutrients, CO2 levels, air circulation, the water,” Frymark explains. “I mean, these are very coddled plants and they have everything they need, and they can just grow in this perfect environment and reach maturity very quickly.”Gotham Greens sells to grocery stores in the Chicago and New York metro areas, as well as select Whole Foods stores. The product goes from the greenhouse directly to grocery shelves in a day and a half.The company’s lettuce also lasts longer than the traditional grocery lettuce out here. Frymark says their product can last up to two to three weeks in the fridge. The vast majority of domestic terror events that have taken place in 2020 were conducted by white supremacist groups and other "like-minded extremists," according to a study by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS).The CSIS, which describes itself as a "bipartisan, nonprofit policy research organization," added in its study that while there has also been an increase in terror plots conducted by "anarchist" or "anti-fascist" groups this year, they accounted for 20% of domestic terror plots.In addition, the group said the number of domestic terror incidents that have taken place in 2020 is "relatively small" compared to other periods in U.S. history.In all, the CSIS reports that 41 terrorist attacks and plots between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31 were connected to white supremacists, violent far-right groups and people who indentifty as "involuntary celibates," or "incels." Twelve attacks and plots were linked to far-left groups and anti-fascists (antifa).The think tank added that far-right groups and far-left groups were each responsible for one fatal attack in 2020.The CSIS added that left-wing and right-wing violence are often intertwined, creating a "security dilemma." Both sides have rushed to arm themselves, and the arms race "inadvertently threatens the other side.""Since it may be difficult for individuals to distinguish between offensive and defensive arms, even efforts by one side to protect itself may motivate others to arm, creating a spiral of actions that leads to violence," the CSIS said.The findings by the CSIS stand in contrast with past statements from President Donald Trump, who often conflates violence from white supremacists and other far-right groups with violence from far-left groups, like antifa.Following the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017, in which a counter-protester was killed by the member of a far-right group, Trump said during a press conference that he thought there were "very fine people" on both sides of the conflict.During the first presidential debate, when he was asked to denounce the Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, Trump told the group to "stand back and stand by."
