SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With the March 2020 Presidential Primary approaching, the San Diego Registrar of Voters is urging everyone to make sure they are registered properly."This one election is the most complex elections for administrators like ourselves and voters that are out there," says Registrar Michael Vu.With six political parties holding presidential primaries, plus the dozens of overlapping state and local district elections, Vu expects to create more than 12,000 unique versions of the ballot. Rules on who can vote in each party make it even more complicated.In December, Vu's office sent out more than 500,000 mailers to voters to make sure they know the options.Anyone registered with a specific party will only be allowed to vote in that party's primary. Republicans will vote for the Republican candidates, Democrats for Democrats and so on.But, right now more then 30 percent of registered voters in San Diego are listed as "No-Party Preference."For those people, they can choose to vote in the primary for American Independent, Democrat, or Libertarian parties. They cannot vote in the Republican, Green, or Peace and Freedom parties."It makes it a little more confusing," says Vu. "Something that voters need to know what political party status they are in. And if it’s different from the presidential candidates they want to vote for, they need to register or re-register now."To help voters navigate their options, the Registrar has set up a website where people can get all the information they need.The deadline to choose a party, or to choose which primary you want to vote in, is January 6."If you’re a non-partisan voter, now is the time to act," says Vu. But a former SEAL from San Diego is turning the tables, writing a book about success in business called, “Taking Point: A Navy SEAL’s 10 Fail-Safe Principles For Leading Through Change.” In the book, author Brent Gleeson uses the principles of teamwork he learned in SEAL training and how that culture can lead to success for any growing company. These days you'll find Brent Gleeson in a blazer, on a stage, speaking all over the world to business leaders. But just a few years ago Gleeson’s attire of choice was desert camo, accessorized with the most high-tech equipment as a member of the world's most elite fighting force. However, before his time as a SEAL, Gleeson was in graduate school at SMU in Dallas, he worked in finance, and was an entrepreneur. The blending of those two lives led to this. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Sheriffs deputies detained a man in Lemon Grove this afternoon, who may be connected to an early morning carjacking.It was supposed to be a routine check-up. A 76-year-old woman was going in for a 7 a.m. eye appointment at a medical office on the 3900 block of Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest.But she never made it.“The man with the gun pointed it at the woman, so I guess it was just taking place, and she scrammed out of there and called 911," a woman named Nancy said. She said her friend witnessed the carjacking happen from across the parking structure.San Diego Police detectives said a shorter, thin, Hispanic man with short hair approached the grandmother, pointed a gun at her face, stole her purse, and drove off in her gray Mazda 3.Officers notified all nearby agencies to search for that car.Then at 9:45 a.m., the car was found on Lemon Grove Way in Lemon Grove. But it was in bad condition. “A few hours later, the Diego Sheriffs Department responded to a hit-and-run that involved that very vehicle, the victim’s vehicle," Lt. Andrew Hoffman of the San Diego Police Department said. Witnesses said the driver of the Mazda 3 hit a parked red Honda Civic, veered into a pole, then ran away.For two hours, investigators set up a perimeter of the area and used a helicopter to look for the car-jacking and hit-and-run suspect. But they came up empty.Then at 2 p.m., detectives did a secondary search of the apartment complex.That is when one of the deputies recognized a wanted man and arrested him. “I guess the guy walked out of the apartment, the other officer saw him from the back of the cop car, must have recognized him," witness Floyd Bloom said. "So that’s when they yanked him out of the car. But he reached for the officer’s taser and his gun. And so they tased him.”San Diego sheriffs deputies said the man they detained is a tall, thin Caucasian man, who was possibly wearing a disguise.Detectives said a curly, black-haired wig fell off of the man during his struggle with police. They also found a rifle and ammunition in the back of his trunk.San Diego County Sheriffs deputies detained the man, then handed him over to the San Diego Police department. It's back to the store. David Warren's sofa just didn't look right. So he was back at the Target store in Kearny Mesa Saturday afternoon."I'm just returning these pillows and shirts," Warren said. "I'm going to swap them out for something smaller."Fernando Delacruz and his wife bought themselves bicycles to kick start a healthy New Year's resolution."I figured I'm going to need a bike so I can exercise," Delacruz said. "And then my wife said, 'Oh that's a cool Christmas gift for me too!'"The couple bought their bikes at target.com. Delacruz's fit perfectly, but his wife's did not."When she tried it on, it was kind of a little big for her," Delacruz said. "So we have to return it."The pandemic has caused a surge in online shoppers, a saving grace for retailers.
