Women who received an abortion would not have been penalized had Proposition 115 passed.The number of abortions performed in the state after 22 weeks is hard to come by. The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) believes the number is between 20 to 300 per year. CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — Florida middle school teacher Dayanna Volitich submitted her resignation after it was found she was also the host of a white supremacist podcast called "Unapologetic" and the voice behind a Twitter account riddled with racist and anti-Semitic posts.The Citrus County School District removed Volitich from the classroom while it investigated her behavior after The Huffington Post broke the story in March. On Monday, Assistant Superintendent Mike Mullen said in an emailed statement that the district received Volitich's resignation, but it isn't final until it's accepted by the school board. COLORADO SPRINGS — The COVID-19 pandemic continues to make an impact, especially to agencies who help kids who've been removed from their families because of abuse or neglect.One foster care agency in Colorado, Hope and Home, says they have over two hundred foster families with 80 recently licensed. Despite the pandemic, the organization says families are continuing to foster children and they haven't seen a decrease in interest."We are always on standby and ready to take care of kids when they come into care. They're always a need for foster families, but there's a greater need during the pandemic," said Jacquelyn Thurman- Wright. "With kids not being at school, they are not in the line of sight of teachers who are mandatory reporters. Sometimes we're seeing this abuse go on because these kids are flying under the radar and not being seen."The organization says COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the foster care system."The most obvious and immediate impact on Hope and Home is that we had to suspend in-person support groups because on a given night we could have 250 people in the building. But within a week, we were up and running on Zoom and Facebook live," said Thurman- Wright.Right now, Hope and Home is fully online and virtual but they're still taking inquiry phone calls and placing kids in foster homes.Sean and Mandy have been fostering since 2018 and didn't let the pandemic get in their way of adopting triplets and fostering a newborn baby."We didn't go to the courthouse because of COVID. So we had it on our couch via ZOOM with the judge," said Mandy.The couple says the pandemic hasn't made fostering easy."Visits are a lot harder, they're more virtual unless they're younger and that its really hard. Therapies, a lot of foster kids come in needing therapies and they're usually virtual," said Mandy.With the new restrictions, doctor visits are harder as well."So if one of the triplets have an appointment, even though they're triplets we can't bring the other two. We actually hired a nanny because of it," said Mandy and Sean.Even with the pandemic, it was not only important for Sean and Mandy but their children, that they continue fostering."We felt like this is what we had to do and then when we were getting our other foster baby. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - The Coronado teenager nearly shot to death in a robbery last spring is now a real estate agent, possibly the youngest in his community. At just 19, Jacob McKanry took the test to get his license just days after getting released from the hospital.The Coronado High School Senior nearly died after he was shot selling jewelry to a couple of guys he met online.McKanry and a friend met the so-called buyers on Orange Avenue around 9 p.m. on May 4th.One of the guys grabbed the necklace while the other pulled out a gun. McKanry tried to get back the jewelry."I just hear a giant boom from behind me, and I feel my insides go like this," said McKanry.He said the shooter than aimed for McKanry's friend."My buddy was backing up, and he fell over a bike rack and the bullet, he shot right as he fell over so, the bullet went right over his head and hit that Which Wich window which definitely saved his life," said McKanry.McKanry was released from the hospital after ten days, but ultimately readmitted with a near-lethal infection.He says he still has pain in his liver and pressure in his lungs. He endured a ten-hour surgery to have the bullet, lodged between his spine and aorta, removed."It went through the back, at first it shattered part of one of my ribs, so that's how it entered into the body. So I broke, for lack of a better term, broke 2 of my ribs, and it took out a baseball chunk size of my liver. It punctured and collapsed my lung filing with blood, fractured my spine, shaved off part of my aorta, causing a pseudoaneurysm," said McKanry.McKanry said he was sure he would die."I leaned over, coughed into my hand, I spit up blood, and I was like well this is bad, I was like I'm pretty much going to die here," he said.His Christian faith brought him comfort."I was at peace, and it's going to be weird when I say this, but I was even happy, obviously, not happy that I got shot, but I pretty much knew where I was going. I knew that I was going to die and I knew that I was going to be soon reunited with the person that created me, so I was just peaceful. I was looking up at the stars and,I was happy, I was ready to go," said McKanry.Today the nineteen-year-old is excited about selling real estate. He's also studying business through Santa Barbara City College.Police arrested 3 teenagers. A judge recently sentenced the seventeen-year-old boy who set up the robbery to three years in juvenile detention. An eighteen-year-old is charged with being the getaway driver, and a second seventeen-year-old is accused of being the shooter. CINCINNATI, Ohio — A SWAT officer with the Cincinnati Police Department was suspended after reports he allowed a civilian to don parts of his uniform on Halloween, Lt. Steve Saunders confirmed Friday. Officer John Neal was placed on administrative duty pending the results of an internal investigation. His LinkedIn profile lists him as a K-9 handler as well as a SWAT officer with the department; Saunders said he was off-duty when the incident occurred. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies and at least two Cincinnati lieutenants were called to Anderson Towne Center early Thursday morning, according to body camera recordings released by the sheriff's office. In one recording, a deputy mentions receiving reports of a man in SWAT gear harassing patrons.When deputies arrive, the man in question identifies himself as Neal's friend and claims to not have realized donning Neal's gear would be a problem. "I've known him for years," he says. "I didn't know this was a [expletive] issue.
