INDIANAPOLIS — A new book you're sure to want to add to your collection is coming out next spring — staring none other than the Bunny of the United States (BOTUS). The second family's bunny, Marlon Bundo, is the focus of the book written by VP Mike Pence's middle child, Charlotte, and illustrated by her mother, Karen Pence. The announcement was made on the "Marlon Bundo" official Instagram account (@marlonbundo) Friday afternoon. "In the book, I follow Grampa around all day, as a BOTUS should, while he goes about his duties as Vice President," the announcement says. The book is set to be released March 19, 2018.  A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to charity.  749

It’s official, summer 2020 was the hottest on record in the Northern Hemisphere.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their monthly report on global temperatures. August 2020’s temperatures around the world made it the second-warmest August on record behind 2016, and the third-hottest season.Here in the Northern Hemisphere, August set a new record with a temperature departure from average of 2.14 degrees F, beating 2016’s numbers.“The most notable temperature departures from average were observed across Alaska, eastern Canada, the western contiguous U.S., Europe, northern Russia, central South America, Western Australia, eastern Antarctica, and across the North Pacific, the Bering Sea, and the Barents Sea, where temperatures were at least 2.0°C (3.6°F) above average,” NOAA scientists observed.The three-month season, June-August, surpassed the previous global record reached in both 2016 and 2019. This period is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and they also had warmer weather than normal. Australia also had a drier than usual winter, 31 percent below average for precipitation.Globally, the ten hottest Augusts have all happened since 1998, and the five warmest have happened since 2015.Scientists believe 2020 will very likely rank in the top five warmest years on record.Also noted in the report, arctic sea ice continues to decline. The average Arctic sea ice coverage in August was the third smallest on record, about 29 percent below the 1981-2010 average. 1509

In it, director Antoine Fuqua says that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli believes it's time to bring some diversity to the role and has left the door open for Elba to potentially succeed the current 007, Daniel Craig.Mind you, no one has confirmed this publicly as of yet and CNN has reached out to reps for Elba and Broccoli.When asked about the reported comments, a spokesperson for Fuqua told CNN, "This is not accurate."But already Twitter is excited about the possibility, naturally.The 45-year-old Elba has also been endorsed by a former 007.Actor Pierce Brosnan told the Radio Times back in 2015 he thought Elba would make a good Bond (though in June 2018, he threw his support behind Tom Hardy as the next spy who loves us.)For his part, Elba told CNN in 2014 that he would love to play the role."It would be such an honor," he said. It all started at 20 years old on stage at the NFL draft when my dream came true, and now here I am about to turn 30 in a few months with a decision I feel is the biggest of my life so far. I will be retiring from the game of football today. I am so grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick gave to me when drafting my silliness in 2010. My life experiences over the last 9 years have been amazing both on and off the field. The people I have meet, the relationships I have built, the championships I have been apart of, I just want to thank the whole New England Patriots organization for every opportunity I have been giving and learning the great values of life that I can apply to mine. IRVINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A new study claims that hookah could be more dangerous than other forms of smoking. According to the University of California study, one in five college students in the US and Europe have tried it. According to researchers who conducted the study, one draw from a pipe can contain as many substances as an entire cigarette. “Hookah mainstream smoke – that which is directly inhaled by the user – has many toxic and harmful chemicals, such as nicotine, which can lead to tobacco addiction; irritating carbonyl compounds; and benzine, a known carcinogen,” said lead author Veronique Perraud, a UCI assistant project scientist in the Department of Chemistry. “And due to the greater volume inhaled for every puff and the longer duration of a smoking session, the hookah oftentimes delivers a higher dose of those chemicals to the smoker.”The study also found that the hookah produces an outsized amount of carbon monoxide mainly due to the burning charcoal. According to the university, the study is the first to look at ultrafine particles. Particles researchers say pose a significant health risk. “One of the big myths about hookah usage is that the water in the bowl actually filters out the toxic chemicals, providing a shield for the smoker,” Perraud noted. “In the study, we show that this is not the case for most of the gases and that, possibly due to its cooling effect, water actually promotes ultrafine particle formation.” 1465
